Sloan have always cited the the music and aesthetic of the hardcore punk movement as a major inspiration for their independent, DIY approach to making their music and art.
Today, Sloan are happy to release a 7" single of two original songs, plus a digital album featuring covers of 12 of their favourite hardcore songs from their youth. The package also comes with a t-shirt featuring images of the band members circa 1985, in the heydey of their punk fandom.
Looks like we have made it boldly into another new year, and we're looking forward to great things in 2013.
First up, check our tour dates for the next leg of our Twice Removed tour. We will be visiting theatres in our old stomping grounds in the Canadian east. There are some lifers on our list (Port Hawkesbury! Liverpool!) so please join us for a warm winter's evening of Sloan music if you are in the region.
I expect we will soon have more shows to announce through the summer and fall, so don't be dismayed if you don't see us in a hamlet near you at this very moment.
Secondly, I am happy to announce that there are a bunch of new photos and stories added to Kevin "Lamps" Hilliard's comprehensive (if not timely) tour blog: "Barely Illuminating"
And finally, I would like to thank everybody for their support of our Twice Removed deluxe reissue and tour, and remind everybody that while our vinyl copies are very close to selling out, there are digital packages available right here at Sloanmusic or on iTunes worldwide.
