Chris Murphy Talks About The Police On Q

Chris phoned into Jian Gomeshi's CBC radio show "Q" to talk about this weekend's adventures in Edmonton supporting The Police. You can catch him on the radio this afternoon, or streaming online via the CBC website.

Today we are boarding a plane bound for Australia. Looking forward to the next week of shows. Hope to see some of you there!

Have a safe trip to Australia :)
Drove in from Saskatoon for the concert in Edmonton on Saturday and loved every minute of the show. Thank you for making the ENTIRE evening memorable in a most positive way.

Have a safe trip, See you in Sydney! :D
Dude the show is called Q, not Cue! :)
Also, I missed it because I was at work, which SUCKS. I hope it was awesome. Chris & Jian on the same show usually is terrific.

HAVE FUN IN AUSTRALIA.
Bring back a koala bear (Mitch Hedberg? Anyone? ... No?).

The Police show experience just cries out for a Pentland tour diary entry. Come on, Patrick!
if ruhee gets a koala bear, can I have a boxing kangaroo or a jar of vegemite? have fun down under! see you when you guys get back!
If Sloan manage to get a Koala back to Canada without having their eyes scratched out I'd be impressed... for such a cute, cuddly and placid looking animal, they dont take well to being manhandled!

I wonder if they have landed yet?

Ciaran! Full post-show reports! You know where to go. :D
I'm super stoked for you.
silly ciaran! koalas ARE cute, cuddly and placid animals! they'd never scratch an eye out! they're my second favourite animal..anyways, have fun! it's been scientifically proven that it is physically impossible not to have a good time at a sloan show.

Unless you're Patrick! ha :) He was either crabby or sick at the Grand Rapids show (where there were probably fewer than 70 people in attendance) because he didn't sing a single song! No one said anything about it, which makes me think he was crabby rather than sick. I met Chris, though (not for the first time) and he was funny and nice.

Lisa - maybe it was because there were less than 70 people there! Ouch! That blows.
Boo! Is it just me or what? I wasn't able to listen to this streaming. Which was frustrating and I felt like screaming, not really, but I was drawn in by the rhyme. I notice Ruh didn't comment on the subject matter either which leads me to believe I wasn't the only one who couldn't get it. Searching for it reminded me of the Jay & Chris radio show days, left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Any advice on the topic would be appreciated. Mike....

I am actually sitting in an internet cafe next to the Globe Theatre in Brisbane, where Sloan is playing tonight. I am from Halifax and happened to be in the same city as my favourite local band. I am really excited for the show. The doors open in half an hour so I better get going...

lisa - poor patrick. I think I'd be slightly angered if only 70 people showed up..we'll cheer him up when he gets back to toronto, I'm sure kingfest is gonna be packed
Laura - at least Detroit loves Sloan. (Although more than half the audience is probably from Windsor.) I've seen them 22 times, mostly in the Detroit area, going back to 1993. When they play St. Andrew's, they sell it out and it holds about 1000 people. I think the poor turnout is more of a reflection on Grand Rapids than on Sloan. Hopefully Patrick wasn't too bummed out. Chris commented that the show reminded him of "Fading into Obscurity". I felt kind of bad for them about the poor turnout -- because it must be frustrating after releasing *brilliant* albums and touring for 15+ years -- but on the other hand I have to admit I enjoy that situation because the show is more personal, you can get up close, and you might even get to meet a member or two of the band.
that's true...I'd love to see a sloan show in a really intimate atmosphere (wait, I kinda did? at the gladstone?) I don't think chris has anything to worry about; as long as they're a touring band, I will be there to see them play.
Went to The Police June 2 - mostly to see Sloan but was very very disappointed. Why the band seems to think they need to play so loud that none of the subtlety of their music can be heard is beyond me. I've been listening to Never Hear the End of It all week - its such a great album ! Such a great band. The Commonwealth performance won't have turned any Sloan fans off (including me) but I can't see that it will have gained them any new fans either. The sound for The Police was incredibly good so it can't be the systems fault. I've enjoyed Sloan at Dinwoodie a few times too - loud - incredibly loud but still good. The same could not be said for Commonwealth. Serious re-think required.....
I travelled from Regina to see Sloan warm up for the Police. I thought they were awesome, my only regret is the 40 minute slot they had... wish it was longer! Ya, I was the guy in front with the Red Stones Canada flag shirt! The lads were dead on and need to come back to Regina real soon, hell, I would even go to Saskatoon.
Wooooooot!... I will be in Calgary on Friday, July 13th! Slooooooooooo-oan!
Fabian - see you there! :D
