As you may know, we are spending the week hanging out in and around SW California. We had a great time at Spaceland and The Casbah. Hopefully we will see some more of you (and perhaps some repeat visitors) at our upcoming shows at the Coach House and The Troubadour.
Tonight (Monday June 7th) is our first of a few nights off. We are going to be hanging out at a club called El Centro where Sloan will be making some musical selections as guest DJs. Please feel free to drop on by and join us. It should be a lot of fun.
If you have any ideas about what we should do with the rest of our spare time, please reply to this news posting with suggestions. I'll let you know what we decide to do.
Helping bring the music to the people...Mike Nelson.

Starting June 12th Sloan got quite a few days off until they tour again so, 2 days off today isn't very much.
For a thought, Sloan's spare time should be spent having fun, safe fun. Er...what about just going to one of your guys place and blast the music on and talk foolish lol It's a good way to let all the stress out. Or go out shopping togther, it's not just a "girl" thing. Suggest each other what clothing to get.. "oh Chris will I look good in this pink top on?" ya know what I mean *smiles* or music shopping is cool, of course, you guys know more than me about that. See if ya can find records you don't have or buy something you wouldn't buy for experimental reasons..but I can't see how ya remember what records you have or don't have. Must got good minds! I can't even remember what I got in the last year.. Okay, gonna stop blabbing, I'm starting to look like a werido... take care have fun whatever you guys do.

suggestions about what to do/see in LA::
If you manage to avoid Disneyland, I recommend the Farmer's Market ---> http://www.farmersmarketla.com/ and try the Brazilian BBQ if you can, the sweets are great at the ice cream place (oops forgot the name) & at LittleJohn's you can get homemade fudge & candies. fine LA cuisine :-9 tasty
To see the beautiful coastline just past the "Beach Cities," drive south on Hwy 1/Pacific Coast Highway (aka PCH)...take that all the way into Palos Verdes...some of the best coast views and some amazing homes. *Stay to the right* on PCH into the hills. Malaga Cove & Lunada Bay are the view points on the bluff. If you keep going on the main drag past Rocky Point Road, you will see on a cliff a very old mediterranean estate where the very *bad TV movie* "La Bella Mafia" was filmed starring Natasha Kinski. The 3rd largest home in the area is the Chateau Montemeir
---> http://www.formatech.net/html/chateau.html
and across the street to its right (the mediterranean house in terra cotta orange) was where I "lived" & house-sat during my first year of college (the largest home in the area)! If only I knew the front gate code I'd say sneak into it and use any of the 101 rooms, the 3 marble pools, 3 pro chef kitchens, 2 tennis/basketball courts or ballroom (there is a full stage!). Beware of the 12 dobermans & rottweilers! Or tell the gate keeper that you are from Canada to see Mr. Chen about the lighting for the stage in the ballroom, he'll love that.
Other than that, you can visit my parents, my mom will be more than happy to help with laundry & cook you all a full meal :)
xoxo Lil

Hi Mike,
I think the guys need some time with their girlfriends! Get them each a hotel room with a hot tub and a view of the ocean and let them relieve some, uh, tension. :) Don't forget the roadies!
Or you could fly back to Buffalo and see me! :) (Like that would happen!)
Enjoy yourselves you deserve it.

Mike
I doubt you folks want to go to Disneyland, but if that's on your list of things to do, I'm taking my special lady friend along with several other friends from out of town on the 12th. You're welcome to tag along. There will also be a real life, Orange County party at my house on the 13th. Music, food, OC fun. It's just like that TV show. It's unreal. I'm sure Corky has already bugged Mike about making the fella's hang out with us.
Sunday Sunday Sunday!!!
Graham's house!!!
Live music!!!
Graham Burgers!!!

hey, I just really really really want to know wether there will be any headlining shows around the Vancouver/Okanagan similkamene area anytime before you.... stop touring :0...:(
Deanne Hodges - June 8, 2004 12:12 PM
Mike,
Hi, I thought about it and maximum exposure is what Sloan needs. So why not run to the nearest music/college/uni and play 6 songs, you know for publicity sake. Set list: Rest of My Life, False Alarm, Reach Out, Marcus Said, Sensory Deprivation, If it Feels Good do it, that ought to showcase the amazing talents of Sloan. And then go for dinner and enjoy your evening, watch the sunset. After all it is work and they're almost ready for a vacation anyway, c'mon boys. And then come back out west it'd be great to see Sloan again.
Cheers
Deanne

Chris Murphy - Come to Redlands CA and reminisce about CHJH and HWHS... If not, I will see you at the Troubadour!
Chris - June 11, 2004 12:51 AM
Hell, you can come out to Redlands and reminisce about wearing sunglasses and a Public Enemy t-shirt at the Double Deuce at 2:00 a.m. with me!
Jeff - June 12, 2004 3:22 PM
The show at the Troubador last night was awesome. You guys bring the ROCK everytime. I sang. I danced. I bougt a shirt and felt like a fan-boy all over again. You're definitely one of the best live rock bands there is. Thanks for continually kicking out the jams.
Greg - June 12, 2004 6:50 PM
Chris........hope you enjoyed the KISS T-shirt I got to you. Thanks for the shout out on stage as well! Wear it with pride!!! Hell, wear it in a photo shoot of some sort!!!!

Here's an idea, plan a tour of Australia (the whole damn country, not just Melbourne and Sydney)! *wishful thinking*
DeeeDeee McCartney - June 18, 2004 11:48 AM
I agree with that publicity thing, except for the playlist, I would make it:
ready for you
I am the Cancer
C'mon C'mon(gonna get it staaaarted)
Suppose the Close the door
Money City Maniacs
sensory deprivasion
She says what she means
If it feels good do it
or just play any full Sloan album...that would work too
Kathleen MacMaster - June 22, 2004 11:40 AM
I agree with bringing Sloan to Japan. Don't live there but, I'm seeing a lot of fans there who want to see Sloan again. Bring the music where it wants to be heard :)

Hopefully you skipped Disneyland since you're playing at House Of Blues in the Downtown Disney District on July 25th. It's a new shopping/disney experience right smack in the middle between Disneyland and California Adventure. You can even hit the Lego store there!!
Maybe I'll be seeing some tanned Sloan legs on Saturday!
