Great job guys!! You made standing around, screaming on cue for three hours fun!! No, seriously, I had a good time. I can't wait to watch it on TV
Does that mean Try To Make It will be released soon?
Darren Wright - July 29, 2005 12:49 AM
Sloan played "Try To Make It" and "Money City Maniacs" for the show. They also did "Good In Everyone" just for the fans with their tech on drums (where'd you go Andrew?). Buck 65 opened the show with two tunes. Murph was having fun - he didn't want to leave the stage - they had to escort him off. Crowd was stacked with Sloan fans who gave the band a huge response with plenty of "Sloooooooooan" chants. Neat place to see Sloan play - would've loved to see a full set there.

Awesome little set guys. Lots of fun. It was worth standing around for hours to hear you guys rock the house. Pretty amazing to see Sloan play up close with only about 50 people there. Darren's right, a full set there would be wicked.
Sloan on!

I hope Try to Make it will be a single. I can see it doing very well on the radio. It's great. I love it, and can't wait to see it on TV. Hopefully there will be a new video too.
*hint hint, call me* ; P

It was a good time yesterday at the first taping of ETalk Playlist. As it was the first episode to be taped, the television crew seemed to be flying by the seat of their pants a bit, but it was a fun time for the band. I agree that a full set would have been great. It takes us as much work to set it up as it would a full show...we might as well let the band play some more.

Paul, our stage tech, was great on drums for the impromptu encore after Andrew had zipped out the back door to get to his hockey game.

You will be able to see how they edit it all together on the premiere episode of Etalk Playlist next Wednesday evening on CTV.

Try to Make It was very well done, and it was refreshing to see Chris in a black button shirt (which he hasn't worn in ages) *scoff*.
It was an unfortunate turn of events, however, to have Money City Maniacs cut-off at the end of the program by Jessica Simpson belching.
Ryan P - August 4, 2005 10:35 PM
I agree that it was a pity that MCM was cut off, but what can you do? Other than that, I quite enjoyed the performance, and found it interesting that rapper/kingpin Jay-Z was on the same programme as that rock band known as Sloan. I guess they were going for Diversity. Try To Make It Sounds good live. Hopefully you'll be on again soon.

You guys were fabulous as always...We have satellite so we watched the show over and over again at different times during the evening, and loved it each time! We can't wait to see you on the 10th here in Winnipeg at the MTS Center! We love you Sloan!!!!
Darren Wright - August 5, 2005 4:25 AM
Sloan was great (of course), but I have to give thumbs down to the etalk Playlist finished product. I thought the show was so helter-skelter in its editing that it was almost unwatchable. MuchMusic can pull off this type of high energy editing, but CTV couldn't do it. Cutting Money City was blasphemy! Sloan did an interview too, but it didn't make the show.
Beth - August 5, 2005 11:39 AM
Ryan P. - interestingly enough, Jay (F.) is actually a Jay(Z) fan! Rumor has it he once recorded a Jay-Z tribute LP that was never released but quietly circulated underground. Here is the top-secret cover: The Pink Album
(OK, kidding. But he IS a Jay-Z fan).
(Oh and Darren, I totally agree. I had friends there that said Sloan did SO much more than what the final product showed. Pity).
