Sloan continue to be busy in the studio working on the forthcoming record. Most of the recording has been done in our own studio with our live engineer Nick Detoro. In classic Sloan form, all four band members have been contributing songs. As some fans have noted from the photos, we have dusted off some keyboards that have been in storage for the past couple of years.
For those of you keeping score, Chris has recovered from his hockey injury and can once again play hockey, guitar, drums, bass, piano and talk on the phone. Just not all at once.
While we have not nailed down a specific date, we are working towards an early summer release. We hope to start announcing summer and fall tour dates soon.
I'll keep you posted as things come together.

Goodness, that's great news. I guess that means you're touring in the summer as well, or will that be later? I hope this is finally the year I get to see you guys - in whichever city I happen to be in when you play, anyway. Good luck with recording.
Beth - April 18, 2006 10:24 pm

Just not Canada Day at the Kee...Maybe mid-July? Maybe? Work for you Beth? Anne? MIR? Bunny?
Mike PLEASE post any Kee details when you can!
MIKE - April 19, 2006 12:34 am
Y'see, I said it. Younger Sloan fans of today have not seen Sloan release an album FOR and before the summer since Navy Blues (roughly 8 years ago).
I have fond memories of listening to Navy Blues and One Chord To Another while driving around the hood and hanging out back on patio parties.
Not only is this good, but they will tour in the summer (as always), and give us more to look forward to as far as performing brand new songs.

News of new Sloan music on the horizon is music to my ears. For some reason when I read the part about keyboards coming back I think of BTB. Maybe because that's my fav album. *lol*
Looking forward to seeing Sloan in concert again this year.
P4P - April 19, 2006 8:21 am
Body Electric Fanatic, I agree that the Kee date should be in July. So many of my weekends are going to be tied up in a wedding this August, so I'm iffy. Go to Sloan, or be a bridesmaid?
Oh, YAY for the new album. I'm excited for new Sloan!!!
Ruh - April 19, 2006 8:41 pm
Rick - YES! Another BTB fan! I've always loved that album. Good on you, pal.
How about starting your tour in the West in August and hitting Toronto by September? That way I can see you twice. (Just kidding. In a perfect world ...) :)

uMMM.....DON'T FORGET US IN THE STATES! Rochester, NY is only a couple hours away and we haven't seen a Sloan show since the "Chord" tour for god's sakes....not that I mind visiting Toronto....they play Sloan on the radio here all the time too! We have a throwback independent (and I mean independent...no commercials!) "alternative" radio station which is celebrating it's 20th year on the air that plays Sloan regularly...

i am so pumped for the new record! i've only ever seen sloan once so you should come to Saint John!
Chuck Ferreira - April 20, 2006 2:09 pm
Great news to read that the keyboards have been dusted off and are being used for the new recording. Sloan guys have always used Rhodes and Wurlitzers very tastefully, and I, for one, have always loved the songs with keyboards. Looking so forward to the new record and a visit(s) to the Boston, MA area. God Bless Sloan!

Good to hear that Chris's hand has recovered well so he can get back in to the groove of things.
I know I'll be walking out the record store with two copies of it. I have 2 of all the other albums, I might as well have two of the upcoming one (except for 4 Nights.. and Peppermint EP.)
TC
love,
Mary Kathleen

The toughest thing about success is that you've got to keep on being a success. Talent is only a starting point in this business. You've got to keep on working that talent. Someday I'll reach for it and it won't be there.

Nothing contributes so much to tranquilizing the mind as a steady purpose - a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.
