The album features songs from all four members of Sloan. While I won't be able to confirm the number of tracks until we finish the master next week, there are 30 new songs mixed and being considered for the disc.

"international release dates to be announced soon. "
Yay! Chris, just like you said on "Going Coastal" last week, we treat you like royalty. Don't forget the JAPAN TOUR~!

Fantastic news. Thanks for the heads up, Mike. You are a tour manager genius, for sure. Really looking forward to the next record, can't wait to get my hands on it! If the new single is anything to go by, we're all in for a massive treat.
Tanya Kearney - July 25, 2006 6:15 PM
I think I just drooled on myself.
I can't wait. Hopefully you can add some extra stuff to the disc - as Ian says, maybe make it a TWO DISK type thing? Woot.. that would knock the socks off an antelope.. if it was wearing socks that is..

I'm so excited I just can't hide ittttttt!

New album = exciting
Name of new album = not so much
Ruh - July 26, 2006 12:10 AM
I disagree, Claire ... the new album title gives us so many opportunities for puns! I can see the magazine headlines now! Ahaha and we thought the ones from Pretty Together were groaners.
OK, but really now, this is exciting news!! New record! Andrew songs!

Months ago at the Exclaim! tournament, Chris mentioned a listening party. Pleasepleaseplease tell me that wasn't one of his nonchalant tell-the-fangirls-what-they-want-to-hear promises?

Even though I really don't agree with the single, something tells me I'm going to want to hear the Sloan album in full. I mean, when you end up playing the **** out of Action Pact before it even gets officially released (How many times have I said out loud that Sloan is a "summer band", meant to be enjoyed in the car with the windows rolled down on the way to wherever your imagination can take you? And yeah, I ended up buying about 5 copies of Action Pact when it came out... near autumn), even if a single does end up disappointing you, you want to make _absolutely_ sure you aren't missing anything, right?
Okay, okay, so _technically_ September 19th is still summer. ;) Rock on.

I totally agree - Sloan is definitely a summer band. If the album is released September 19, then September 19 is still summer :D

Sloan. Wicked. Why are they so tight? Why don't they play at my birthday? Why are they better than so many bands that are more famous? Why do they deliver such a great live show? From now on, when I'm excited I'm going to say, "Hey. I'm feeling all sloan in my pants." Call me.
Lyle - July 28, 2006 4:40 PM
I'm looking forward to this as much as I am to Paul Stanley's upcoming solo album "Live to Win". One of these new albums will please me and one will disappoint me. Guess which is which.

Sloan kicked complete ass at SuperSpike last Saturday.
has anybody ever noticed how much Andrew resembles the drummer from The Poilce?
maybe they're twins, or maybe it IS him!!
check it out you guys I'm seriously here...The Police broke up quite a while ago, and you've never seen Sloan and The Police together in the same room at the same time....ever!
I can't wait for the new album! and Sloan kicked complete ass at SuperSpike last Saturday!!

Album released Sept 19 - Sloan opens for the rolling stones Sept 23 in Hali? I think yes.
please.

I've seen a report that the 30-song NHtEoI is supposed to see all the sides of each band member. Okay, _now_ we can say it: White Album. I just wish WTYtLLT actually improved on the Belle & Sebastian tune, much like "Penpals" (I can't recall), "If It Feels Good, Do It" ("Get Ready"), "False Alarm" (any worthy '80s tune) and others improved on their influences. Mind you, I am beginning to warm up to the single (maybe because it's sunny outside). It's far from their best ("False Alarm" SHOULD HAVE BEEN a single!!! Can we rush a remix to radio?).

Addendum to the ever-continuing "B Sides In" campaign (of which you'll never hear the end of it either... until it comes out).
I just counted off all the non-album / compilation / bonus / etc. tracks Sloan has recorded throughout the years (including "Guidance Counsellor", Otis Haynes' "Gimme the Keys", "Try Harder", "Ratty Dave's Car", "Every Needle Has Its Eye", "D is for _Diver_", "D is for _Driver_", and both versions of "Same Old Flame" and "Stood Up", not to mention the entire "Sloan Party" album and songs off "Peppermint" EP unavailable elsewhere). With "Snowsuit Sound" being the only unreleased demo, and "A Case of You" and "In the Mood" the only covers included... the track number just passes the "50" mark. Take away the Party Album, and there's _still_ over 40 tracks. How many can 1 CD hold?
Guys, it's about time. So market that multi-million-seller, then package that two double-LP set / double-CD set to appease the long-term fans who'll poo-poo your making it to the big time. Success doesn't suck (if treated properly).
Rock on.

Hey KGB ... the B-Sides have made their rounds, if not through an actual record label, then the closest thing there is to it (sort of).
Drop me a line.
CiaranAus - August 4, 2006 8:24 PM
i have only two words...

and one more...
PLEASE!
Josh Salter - August 6, 2006 11:16 PM
If the album is as good as 'Who Taught You to Live Like That?' it will be a good year.
Bradley - August 8, 2006 5:07 PM
Cool i cant wait to hear it so cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bradley - August 8, 2006 5:07 PM
I cant wait

I got the new CD this weekend and well, I'm worried. 30 songs, which makes the title all the more funny given that you CAN'T hear the end of it in one sitting at 76 minutes and a few seconds, but they all go into each other like the B Side of Abbey Road, and there's this recurring theme of ending relationships. Is the band breaking up? LET THE PAT IS DEAD RUMORS COMMENCE!
28IF on the license plate means 28 if they didn't have room for two more songs.
