How exciting! Can't wait for September~
(and..Don't forget the Japanese release...)

Allison -

The new single sounds great! I'm really looking forward to hearing your White Album, or whatever colour it is, in September. Hope to see you soon!

Brady -

It's a lot better than I thought it would be. I'm excited for September. Let's just hope that the rest of the album is as good as this song.

Claire -

This song is so good that it makes me giggle like a schoolgirl. Here's hoping it's representative of the rest of the album!

Allegra -

Oh Jay, you're so retro! I can't wait for the album - I don't think you know how excited I was for the single or how impatient I am for September 19!

Lisa (Halifax, NS) -

It's a great song, Jay. I look forward to hearing it live (again) in Hali sometime soon. Nice going!

Monz -

When will this monster be available for purchase (with B-sides!)?

Kel -

Yah, new single! Sounds Grrrreat!

I'm just weary of another September tour. This means playing at universities, and I know you guys weren't impressed the last time you were at UNB in Fredericton. Please don't skip us due to the behaviour of people last year. Better still, play somewhere else in Fredericton!

Nikki -

An excellent song! Fantastic in every way! I'll be grooving around my living room to this for ages! In fact, I'm going to get the DJ to play it at my wedding reception next month. YAY SLOOOOAAAN!

Tanya Kearney -

I first heard the single this week while at work .. I loved it instantly! I only heard it played once - FM 96 in London, ON seems to prefer the damn Chili Peppers who I've come to loathe. At any rate - same as Kel above, I really hope it isn't a "University" tour as Londoners who are NOT going to UWO are NOT going to be permitted into the show - which SUCKS because most of them don't deserve to have Sloan all to themselves. Shoot for the JLC, Centennial Hall (a venue for a show which you cancelled on us what, 9 years ago or so? :P) or Call The Office - only let members know early so that we can get tickets first! :)

Can't wait for the new disc. I'm also going to be volunteering at the beer tent for the Balloon Fest - selling the beer tickets! Come and visit. :)

Beth -

Hey, Norman Greenbaum called - he wants his song back.

Just kidding, it's a great new song, seriously. I was pleasantly surprised to hear not only hints of the aforementioned classic but a little bluesy new Belle & Sebastian (ie White Collar Boy) in there? (I can almost see Patrick whince as I write that, so I'll write it again - Belle & Sebastian).

This double LP is just what the Sloan fans ordered. We're all a'buzz.

(P.S. - what's with all the Sloan covers on Canadian Idol?!? I almost lost my dinner to "Rest of My Life").

CiaranAus -

Hey All!

I'm a recent convert to the sloan scene, a guy at work pushed a copy of Navy Blues in my hands and since then i've bought the entire back catalogue bar A sides win, Smeared and Pretty Together.

Its pretty hard to get sloan over here in Australia! All of the covers have english and french stickers on them so I assume theyre imports from Canadia.

Please tour! I know you've only come here once before, but seriously our weather is the best! Come enjoy a summer over here!

But yeah back on topic the new single sounds sweet, are there many songs from Andrew on the new record? I've gotta say my personal fave songs so far are predominantly his ones. (Sinking Ships especially!)

Dave Read -

Great song, I'm psyched for teh new record. Come up to Nanaimo when you're out West, it would be the gig of the century...

Chris -

Just gotta say, this song is awesome. I'm a huge sloan fan, and the same for classic rock. Amazing display of both! Can't wait for the new album!

Kathleen -

Congraduations Jay for making your song the 1st single of the the upcoming album. You totally deserve it. I knew you could do it! The lyrics are clever and sleek (like always), and it blends in so well with the music. I'm loving the hand claps. Hand claps for a well deserved single.

Excited for the album.

Kevin -

WOW! Please tell me there is a way for those of us in the US to get this song...
one month until sloan for free in buffalo
YEAH!!!
go sabres!

Catriona -

And there's a very good reason to live in Canada. Thanks Sloan!!

Come back to McMaster/Hamilton!!

Kevin -

I've listened to the new single on my space at least 30 times already.
WOW!
Can't wait for the new album... and the show on the 24th

Kozue -

Great song!! I can't wait for the new album!!
I'm really looking forward to hearing it live in Japan!!

Dante -

It's about goddam time Jay got a lead single off a Sloan album.

Thank you for bringing the piano back into play.

Pinky -

Are you sure it's a Jay song? It sounds like Patrick to me.

KashGlenBarn -

I thought it was Patrick as well.

And for the record, Belle & Sebastian's "White Collar Boy" _is_ the same beat and style, but its melody is a bit more, um, diverse. Guess I was just hoping for a lot more from a Sloan single than this.

But seems like I'm the only one who doesn't like the song. Ah, well. Rock on.

KGB

Jeremy -

Strange choice for a single. I'm not sure if I like it or dislike it. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the new stuff regardless.

Brady -

Yeah, it is a Jay song. The only parts Patrick has in it are the singing in the chorus (Along with Jay and Chris), and the "Yeah!" before the "Oooohs..."

Although I think that Patrick does most of the Oooohing.

Deanne -

Hey, I like that. A song by Jay for a lead off single is pretty sweet. I really can't wait to hear the rest of the new Sloan album. Nice job guys !!!!

Julianne -

Anyone know where can I find the lyrics???

Kathleen MacMaster -

Double checked, right link THIS time. lol

Julianne -

Thank you, Kathleen. Been searching since the first time I heard it.

small minded fool -

Okay,I know its been a while, but reconditioning old jet aircraft engines is time consuming.Do I like the new single,"who taught you to live like that"? Hmmmmm......cant tell,I would need to hear it live, actually I meant "LIVE".Yes,I know that it would mean a trip to Australia, but its not like you have'nt been here before, and if I remember right Chris did say it was one of his favorite gigs, one of mine too,but its been soooo looong,I just can't remember.Anyway things are looking up, Canadia will soon be covered all over with snow and sleet and driving rain, while we frolick in the sunshine listening to the new sloan album, are they still called albums? So I guess its,see you soon!
