Art Gives Hope
Many of you are likely familiar with the work of our friend and colleague, photographer Andrew MacNaughtan. He has taken portraits of just about everybody in the Canadian music industry including several widely used Sloan shots. Inspired by the Make Poverty History campaign, he has organised a charity auction of some of his best work over the last decade.
Sloan are happy to be participating in the Art Gives Hope art exhibit and charity auction to help families in Africa living with HIV/AIDS. Visit www.ArtGivesHope.ca to view and bid on their autographed portrait!
Please take some time to learn more about poverty issues at home and abroad. Our small efforts combined can really make a difference.

ARTGIVESHOPE AUCTIONS EXTENDED
Due to an error in our system our auctions have been interrupted. In the interest of fairness to all those bidding and watching we have re-launched the auctions and they will now end on March 22. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope all bidders will continue with us in this great cause. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please come on over and bid again! Thanks for your continued support!
*****************************************************************
The organizers did the best they could to start the bidding at around a $100 less than the previously highest bid. I followed up on the technical end and can assure everyone that the auctions will proceed on schedule.
Thank you for helping us do our part to make a difference in the lives of the people of Uganda.

Those portraits are so amazing! If i had the money, I would be buying a few. Sloan's is great of course, along with the Barenaked Ladies, Rush, Buck 65 and K-OS's. *sigh* oh to be able to purchase real art ;)

I read these comments-- way after the fact, of course. But could not stop myself from adding: I went 6 years with ZERO income while pursuing Social Security Disability benefits--which I now have thru the remainder of my days. ~8D
SIX Y E A R S . . .
You say, "don't got $$$."
Something is wrong with your hands, feet, eyes, ears? IF you like what's being auctioned off, AND you like the cause-- VOLUNTEER. Auctions usually are grateful for runners, telephone liasons, even people that can copy and staple a catalog, much less set up the database for it-- OR PUSH A BROOM after it's over. AND y'never know, you might have been able to work out a Personalized Thank You from the Artist. READ THAT: having your picture taking with the artist standing in front of one of the auctioned pieces.
All it takes is a case of quitcherbitchinbout$ and getupoffyerbutt.
(food stamps didn't pay for toilet paper, shampoo, or "monthly girl products." Bartering was a learned skill.)
I do hope the auction was a success!
((she steps, looks down, carefully climbs down off her soapbox; brushes dusty cobwebs off her head.)) "Hhmm... if Elected Government Officials had to go thru JUST the application process for food stamps-- welfare-- public housing-- OR survive 3 days in Angola..." ((idly twisting a very long lock of hair* around her finger... does her very best Scarlett O'Hara and strolls off into a sunset somewhere...))
...tommorrow is another day. (--or, as God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again!)
