SIIIICK!!!

This is what I've been waiting for, the vinyl! Got the DVD too.

Lisa (Halifax, NS) -

Record shopping with Jay? I don't think I'm going to be able to wait till Christmas to open this.

Ruh -

I second that, Lisa! Jay can take me record shopping ANYTIME. Also, busking with Chris sounds like a party and a half.

laura -

sounds like such a ball! I'll definitly pick up a copy from the toronto concert, can't wait!

Rich -

Great news! I'll order it now because I certainly can't wait to buy it at their U.S. shows.

My friends and I were interviewed by Kevin.

Mariko -

oh..my god! DVD?! Thank you~

Eric -

Wow - this is really surprising news!

Lee Hower -

Aww, gee, Mike. You never mentioned this when I met you in Vancouver! Gotta log off and onto Maple Music. What's the conversion rate today?

See you in California this spring!

Chris -

Does anybody know if this dvd will play on American DVD Players? Sometimes the region code is different.

Mike Nelson -

The DVD is Region 1 (North America). It was cost prohibitive to make it multi-region. Hopefully this won't affect too many of our international fans, as multi-region players are more common outside of North America.

Mariko -

it already affected some of your international fans...

i just have to encourage them to buy multi-region players, no problem.
(-_-)...

Sarah -

It sounds great! Can't wait to get it!

ciaran -

Just ordered a DVD and for good measure I picked up a copy of 4 nights on Vinyl! (Now I just need to find a good quality paint pen so I can get 4 signatures on it when they tour aus!)

I'm a not too concerned about the region 1 as I have a multi region player in my house, I just hope my in-car dvd plays it... I loooove driving around and playing/watching my A Sides DVD! Fingers Crossed!

Tim in Nashville -

Oh man! Can't wait to see this DVD. I'm hoping to see my shining face at the Nashville show. I was right next to the camera guy and he asked me a bunch of questions after the show.

Hiro -

Too bad it doesn't play in Japan...

Mariko -

ya i know... Japan-->Region 2 (;_;)

Simon -

Somebody can tell me the technical specifications of the DVD such as for example the tracklisting, the subtitles and the aspect ratio.

thank you

Kozue -

I've just ordered the DVD from Japan!!
I'm sure I can watch it here somehow.
Can't wait!!

Bobo -

I don't know if you can call it a track listing...you get complete live versions of Backstabin', Rest of My Life, False Alarm, Nothing Lasts Forever and I Was Wrong. You also get live snippets of Live On, The Great Wall, Step On it Jean, Sensory Dep and a "live clip" montage to the recorded version of Hallow Head.

There are segments and interviews of the band on the road and some quick clips of fan comments. The whole thing clocks in at around 40 mins or so. Subtitles....I don't think you get that option.

Ruh -

Forty minutes is pretty short :O I hope it's good!

Mark -

To those that have purchased it already is the music coverage audio from the mix board or from the camera? ie. Can the audio be cranked up and still sound good or does it sound like crap?

This is important info before buying IMO.

Thanks!

Lee Hower -

I ordered the DVD on the day it was posted here, and within 10 days it made its way to California.

This DVD isn't really a live concert show, but more of a montage of "being on the road with Sloan". Shots on the bus, setting up, playing, and doing stuff in the off times. I found it fascinating as I learn about the band and its members. (Remember, I've got years to catch up on.) I really enjoyed Jay shopping in the used record store and him gasping when he picked up a copy of "Looking Back With Love" from Mike Love, the lead singer of the Beach Boys. It was just fun to watch, as you knew it was real - he really does collect this stuff.

I guess what I liked so much about this was it showed the human side of the band members away from the stage. To see Patrick going to the store shopping for toys for his son - can't get more human than that. Can't say that I like him with really short hair, however! And Andrew, on the golf course - how many knew that he'd been playing golf since he was 5? It was also neat to see him come out of a club in the middle of the night after a show (I imagine), and it's pouring rain and there's a sudden boom of thunder and Andrew jumps with a smile of surprise.

One thing that did surprise me is that things about the personal life and personalities of Jay, Patrick and Andrew were shown - but not much from Chris. He walked the streets of Nashville singing with an acoustic guitar, and had a really fake moustache (made with black electrical tape) at the Rock and Roll Museum in Cleveland, but not much about him as a person.

I do wish the DVD was longer - for more concert footage, more interaction, more interviews. But I'm glad I got it. Now, Mike, what else you got to sell me?

zallaz -

Hey I ordered the DVD and it took big 5 days to reach the UK, very pleased!

The whole package is great, it's witty has energy, the songs are fab, just makes me wanna hop on a plane to see you Sloan-sters live again, is it gonna be a few more years before you hit England again?

American tour in 2007? Play SF I'll be there by hook or by crook, great dvd again guys thank-you.

Lee -

Zallaz, from what Mike Nelson told me at the Vancouver show, Sloan coming to San Francisco in the spring is a very real possibility. Maybe even a probability. So get ready to make those reservations, and I'll see you in The City!

Scott -

Wow, I love the DVD mostly cause it's so funny and goofy, I mean that in the nicest way possible! (It arrived very shortly after I ordered it...Thanks!) I love the little toy van with the cartoon versions of the members in the windows, driving around with "vvvrrrroooommm" sounds (supplied no doubt by Chris I'm guessing) while being pushed around a map of the USA to their various tour stops...awesome! hee hee! I love the very beginnning too when they show each of themselves separately, with caption and instrument (to the beat of 'Gimme That'), something very cheesy about that...again meant in the nicest way possible! The live performance of 'False Alarm' gave me goose bumps!

Shibuya Chris -

Wow, a lot of people in Japan seem to dig Sloan, cool! Checked out your site Mariko, that's awesome you're spreading the Sloan goodness in Nippon. Anyone in Japan order the DVD? How long did it take? Might make it my Christmas present to myself.

DC -

Tried to order it but apparently it's not available right now. Hope you guys have some more soon.

jroc -

sloan needs to release the live black and white footage of all the between the bridges tunes, and all the live footage from the 98/99 palais royale shows.
