We are happy to report that the video that Sloan filmed and edited themselves, with a budget that would put even Van Halen's "Jump" to shame, has been added in heavy rotation on Much More Music, and light rotation on Much.
In other encouraging news, college radio has been a great support as well with "Parallel Play" landing in the top ten for two weeks running.
Thanks to everybody for continuing to make requests for Sloan's music on your local stations.

Yes, good for them.

Whoop-dee-do! La-dee-da! Getting your video played on stations that aren't even known anymore for actually playing music videos isn't that big of a deal...am I going to be able to catch it in between repeat episodes of Celebrity Rehab and America's Best Dance Crew?
Brady - July 9, 2008 3:54 PM
Because I'm sure your videos get played on those channels all the time.

If they aren't playing that many videos, wouldn't getting added mean that they only play stuff they think is really cool?

It could also mean that the two stations, as well as the radio stations, which are likely owned by the same media conglomerate, are required by law and mandated by the CRTC to play a minimal amount of Canadian content and there simply aren't enough Canadian artists actually making music videos to fulfill those respective quotas.

Or the song and video could be good.
I think getting a song added to playlists across the country is a little more complicated than just falling under the CRTC's umbrella. During Sloan's 17 year career they obviously have developed a relationship with radio and TV. From having live shows presented by certain stations, to on air interviews/live performances at 5 in the morning, or the hundreds of station id's for individual DJ's shows, and the various "...Fests" during the summer, they have built strong support across the country and elsewhere.
If you tune into the Much Loud station, they play tons of Canadian videos, I'm sure more than the CRTC demands (which I believe is 35%). So the videos are being made, just not added to the main stations. The same goes for the glut of horrible Canadian music being released every week. How many Nickelback cover bands does one country need?

I just want to tell you that I think Burn For It is the sleeper track of this album. I rarely see it mentioned in reviews or articles but it is the one that keeps going through my mind all day. One of your best songs ever. That "barbed wire heart" part kicks so much @$$. Keep it up! Ha ha.
