This months issue of Canadian Musician features a 4 page spread of Sloan.
Luther Mallory interviewed each of the guys separately and wrote a really fantastic article. Click

Parallel Play has been nominated for a 2009 Juno in the category of "Best Rock Album"!
Here is a blurb written on the
CTV website.
"Following the 30-track epic that is
Never Hear the End of It,
the guys in pop/rock band Sloan have, for the time being, toned down
their now legendary creative output. For their latest album,
Parallel Play,
Sloan's members each contributed three songs (except for Andrew who has
four). For most bands, four distinct creative visions - and egos -
would almost certainly mean eminent disaster. But for Sloan it's the
only way to fly. Here, the differences in process, influences, and
taste that would fracture a lesser band are the very reason the band
functions"

For a select few of you in and around the Barrie, Ontario area tomorrow night you can enjoy the live spectacle of a very cold Sloan ushering in the New Year with an outdoor musical extravaganza.
Here's a little end of year teaser treat for the rest of you:

Andrew Scott and Ian McGettigan recently sequestered themselves in Sloan's studio space to write the original music to accompany Michael Melski's latest feature
Growing Op. Sloan also contributed a song to the soundtrack. Check local listings for theatrical showings, and DVD release dates.
Asked about the soundtrack and the score, Melski said "We have some of the best artists in the country who’ve contributed, including Matt Mays and El Torpedo, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Classfied, Jill Barber, Amelia Curran, Nathan Wiley; it’s an incredible list and they’re all Canadian...And the original score is by Andrew Scott, drummer for the world-renowned rock group Sloan. It’s his first time scoring a picture, and he did an incredible job, along with Ian McGettigan, of really complementing the songs we’d already chosen with really sensitive instrumental pieces that are so appropriate for the movie."
