Sloan will be returning home to Halifax for this year's Junos (Canadian Music Awards).

Andrew will be joining the musician's hockey team for the annual Juno Cup game on Friday March 31st. Chris is also on the roster, but will likely be sidelined by a hockey-related hand injury that he sustained last friday night.

For those of you who would rather see them play music, Sloan will be performing a set on April Fools night as a part of the Junofest. Details will be available soon, but they are slated to play sometime around midnight at Reflections.

Those of you who caught Chris in action in Japan in January of 2002 will be familiar with his ability to play with a broken hand. You can reassure the doubtful that the show will go on.

Many of you are likely familiar with the work of our friend and colleague, photographer Andrew MacNaughtan. He has taken portraits of just about everybody in the Canadian music industry including several widely used Sloan shots. Inspired by the Make Poverty History campaign, he has organised a charity auction of some of his best work over the last decade.

Sloan have returned to the studio over the past few weeks laying down the bed tracks for a new album. They have been writing and recording demos throughout the winter and there is a lot of material to choose from going into this recording. It has been three years since the recording of "Action Pact". Everybody is happy to be working with some new songs and I expect that the results are going to be worth the wait.

I am rounding up some photos and video of the band working in the studio and we will be posting regular updates as the project moves along.

According to our current schedule, we will be back on the road in late-May or early June. Hopefully we'll see you at a show this summer!

As has been mentioned already in the comments on previous news posts, there is a Sloan Tribute night being organised in Toronto.

While we don't presume to know the machination behind this honour, it sounds like it would be a fun chance to watch some kindred spirits exhibit their chops on some of Sloan's catalogue. Hopefully this will present a chance for folks to take the songs in new directions that we could not have previously imagined.

Here is the latest on London: Get there early and enjoy an extended Sloan set. We have foregone hosting an opener this time around and plan to deliver an epic set...stretching out a bit after a great couple of weeks of hour-long sets in Spain.

We have had a blast in Spain with The Soundtrack Of Our Lives. In fact, they are the soundtrack of my life right now as I write this post while they play their show in Zaragoza. The shows have been fantastic and we are already plotting our return...in less than 5 years.

I will try to crack the whip on tour diaries and such so you can get all of the dirt.

Now here is some news.

Sloan will be playing with the Rolling Stones on their two dates at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden (formerly Fleet Center) next month. We are pleasantly shocked by this development.

So we'll be in Boston for a few days before we head to Spain. Please come and join us for a concert or two with the Rolling Stones.

We are still finalizing our London plans, but we will be announcing something soon.
