The first single from the new Sloan record is now posted on our myspace page.
The album is due out this September in Canada and shortly thereafter around the world.
For those who live in Toronto (or--conveniently enough--have access to the internet), you can catch a live interview as the single is launched this afternoon at 6:30pm on Edge 102.1 (Tuesday, July 18th).

June Update
As you may have noticed above, tour dates are being amassed. Look for a few more festival dates this summer, followed by real touring in the fall/winter/spring/next summer.
The band are working away on the new record, current reports suggest a September release.
Look to criticize the new single in July.
Keep checking back, as we are about to start an onslaught of online content. Although, to be honest, it will mainly consist of Chris “reading” the newspaper, and Andrew “smoking”.
Pentland To Jump Off Of Kick Drum
Patrick will be playing guitar for John Kastner during NXNE in Toronto. Kastner, the former singer for Canadian punk legends The Doughboys and The Asexuals, has spent the last few years fronting All Systems Go from LA. He’s now promoting his solo debut, and Patrick is psyched to be bashing away along with bassist John Sutton (The Weakerthans/All Systems Go) and drummer Trevor Macgregor (Treble Charger/SNFU).
Check it out June 10th, 10 pm, at the El Mocambo.

Sloan Video Fun
A little while ago I tried to stream a "short film" that we made last year with the help of eTalk producer Amy Segal.
Our server did not handle the file very well so I took it down. I just put it up on YouTube. Hopefully this solves the slow streaming issues.

Andrew's "eight bucks"
Andrew Scott will be showing some of his recent paintings at Studio 21 in Halifax from May 5th to the 26th.
The show is called "eight bucks" for reasons that will surely become apparent if you check out the subject matter. Some samples can be seen on the gallery website.
The gallery will also be featuring works by Canadian contemporary painter Ron Shuebrook.

April Update
It has been about a month since the last update. Rest assured that there has been a lot going on, just not many boldtype headlines.
Sloan continue to be busy in the studio working on the forthcoming record. Most of the recording has been done in our own studio with our live engineer Nick Detoro. In classic Sloan form, all four band members have been contributing songs. As some fans have noted from the photos, we have dusted off some keyboards that have been in storage for the past couple of years.
For those of you keeping score, Chris has recovered from his hockey injury and can once again play hockey, guitar, drums, bass, piano and talk on the phone. Just not all at once.
While we have not nailed down a specific date, we are working towards an early summer release. We hope to start announcing summer and fall tour dates soon.
I'll keep you posted as things come together.
