Sloan have returned to the studio over the past few weeks laying down the bed tracks for a new album. They have been writing and recording demos throughout the winter and there is a lot of material to choose from going into this recording. It has been three years since the recording of "Action Pact". Everybody is happy to be working with some new songs and I expect that the results are going to be worth the wait.
I am rounding up some photos and video of the band working in the studio and we will be posting regular updates as the project moves along.
According to our current schedule, we will be back on the road in late-May or early June. Hopefully we'll see you at a show this summer!

As has been mentioned already in the comments on previous news posts, there is a Sloan Tribute night being organised in Toronto.
While we don't presume to know the machination behind this honour, it sounds like it would be a fun chance to watch some kindred spirits exhibit their chops on some of Sloan's catalogue. Hopefully this will present a chance for folks to take the songs in new directions that we could not have previously imagined.
There are some additional details to be found on Chartattack.com.

Patrick Pentland has broken his silence about what actually happened on "that tour". Not everything is printable, or "printageous", as the American media loves to say these days. Not everything is interesting, but some of it is true. Check out his tour diaries.
Here is the latest on London: Get there early and enjoy an extended Sloan set. We have foregone hosting an opener this time around and plan to deliver an epic set...stretching out a bit after a great couple of weeks of hour-long sets in Spain.
Camden Underworld

Doors: 7:30
Sloan: 8:30
Members of Sloan will be personally selecting the music, so come early to hear some cool pre-show music.
We have had a blast in Spain with The Soundtrack Of Our Lives. In fact, they are the soundtrack of my life right now as I write this post while they play their show in Zaragoza. The shows have been fantastic and we are already plotting our return...in less than 5 years.
I will try to crack the whip on tour diaries and such so you can get all of the dirt.

Well, the five years are up and we can go back to England.
If you’re in London on January 31 you should come to the Underworld in Camden and check us out. Tickets are on sale now, and you can check it out at http://www.theunderworldcamden.co.uk/
This will be the third time we’ve played the Underworld, and the first time in five years that we’ve been back to the UK. See us now, or you’ll have to wait until 2011.
Now here is some news.
Sloan will be playing with the Rolling Stones on their two dates at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden (formerly Fleet Center) next month. We are pleasantly shocked by this development.
So we'll be in Boston for a few days before we head to Spain. Please come and join us for a concert or two with the Rolling Stones.
We are still finalizing our London plans, but we will be announcing something soon.
We’re happy to announce that we will be touring Spain in late January with The Soundtrack Of Our Lives.
This will mark the second time that we have toured Spain, the last time was for Between The Bridges in October of 2000. This will also be the second time we have shared the stage with our friends from Sweden, the first being in support of Oasis in August of 2002.
The official dates and venues will be posted above shortly, or you can check out the Soundtrack site http://www.tsool.net/index/index.htm if you’re that impatient.
We will also be playing London on the way back. Stay tuned for more info on that.
Jay Ferguson and Chris Murphy have joined CBC's
Radio 3 as hosts on their new satellite radio station now available through
Sirius satellite radio (channel 94) in Canada and the United States.
They will be hosting two, four hour shows each week featuring the best in Canadian underground indie music. The shows air Saturday and Sunday at 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern.
For those who have yet to join the satellite revolution, the Saturday program is repeated Saturday nights on good ol' fashioned CBC Radio 2 from 9pm Pacific/Midnight Eastern).
For those of you who are closer to a computer than a transistor radio, you can visit www.cbc.ca to find out how to listen to radio 2 online on Saturday nights.
We now have keys to the CBC. And an office. Who knew?
See you on the radio...
We are wrapping up our touring for the year with a handful of shows in Ontario.
Wednesday, Nov. 23, sees us performing two songs at the CASBY awards at Toronto’s Kool Haus.
Thursday through to Sunday we will be playing several shows with the Illuminati, whose bass player/singer Nick Sewell was recently voted Toronto's best bassist in NOW magazine's annual Best Of poll. One Chris Murphy has been furiously brushing up on his chops for the impending “bass-off” that is sure to ensue.
Finally, we will break tradition and play New Years Eve in the town of Barrie.
These gigs will mark the end of an enjoyable run of shows that saw us playing throughout the US and Canada, including the Coachella festival, two sold out nights at New York's Bowery Ballroom, dates with the Foo Fighters, and numerous other festivals and clubs.
We will continue to support A Sides Win in the new year. New dates will be posted as they are confirmed.
UPDATE:
I'm happy to announce that both the Kitchener and London shows are all ages/licensed. I wish that this could always be the case with our shows. If any younger fans have been trying to catch a show (or two) now's your chance. To refresh your geography, Kitchener is about an hour west of Toronto. London is only a couple of hours east of Detroit.
Hope to see you later this week.
