POPTONES PRESENTS RADIO 4

The UK's Alan McGee is coming back to invade Canada and the US for JULY - come one and come all!

Sloan will be sparring with "Canada's national treasure" Nardwuar the Human Surviette on Much Music's Going Coastal (which airs Sundays at 11pm ET). Nardwuar catches the band while in studio in Vancouver...

Sloan's infamous smashed rhodes will be up for grabs at a benefit concert for the White Ribbon Campaign. The benefit takes place on June 6th, as a part of the NXNE music festival. Festival wristbands are $18, and are available from various HMV stores, and ticketmaster. For more info about the benefit show, check out this article from Chartattack.com.

The Sloan boys will be heading down to Vancouver at the end of May, to start mixing their (still-untitled) upcoming album. On an interesting note: the band will be working with one of the guys who originally helped put together Smeared. (But I wouldn't hold my breath for a "Left of Centre redux". Or at least I hope not. Ha.) No new release date for the album has been set yet.

Wanna see some musician-types play some hockey for a good cause? Come down and watch the third-annual "Exclaim! Cup" at the following dates and venues, and make sure to bring a non-perishable food item (to be collected at the door) for donation to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Sunday, April 15th - De La Salle Arena (131 Farnham Ave., southeast of Avenue & St. Clair W.) 12PM to 7PM

(We will be having live music during and between the games.)

Also, there will be a "Exclaim! Cup 2001 Hockey Tournament Opening Gala" on Friday night (April 13) at the Barcode (549 College St.) with the Cup's participants performing live music. The shindig starts at 9pm.

Chris will be appearing on TSN's popular talk show "Off The Record" tomorrow (Wed 11th) , airing at 6pm ET on TSN, and repeating the following day (Thurs 12th) at 12pm ET. The show features a small panel of athletes and celebrities "talking sports". The other guest panelists accompanying Chris, will be Ted Nolan (Former NHL coach), Gerald Butts ("Champion Debater"), and Rick Vaive (OHL Coach). Hoo-wee! This here's gonna be fun to watch!

When Sloan stopped off in London during their last fall tour, they played a guest-gig at Alan McGee's Radio 4 club night. Alan was recently in Toronto promoting his new label Poptones, and again invited the band to be his "secret guests" at his show.

Late breaking news! Chris will be joining 102.1 The Edge dj "Brother Bill" on location with u8tv's "the Lofters" tonight between 6:30-8:00pm ET. You can listen on the radio (or at the station's website),and later watch the broadcast on The Life Channel (at 9:30 ET). Admittedly, I don't watch the show on a regular basis, so I don't know if Chris's appearance will air tonight, or on a later date. Keep your eyes peeled anyway.
