For those of you who have always wanted to have Sloan DJ while you enjoyed your Saturday afternoon shopping, your dreams are about to come true.

As part of a Filter Magazine DJ series, Jay Ferguson and Andrew Scott will don their headphones, and treat some lucky Urban Outfitters customers to some of their favourite tracks. It will be a great opportunity to pop by and say hello before our NYC Roseland Ballroom show on Saturday July 10th. Look forward to seeing some of you there!

As you may know, we are spending the week hanging out in and around SW California. We had a great time at Spaceland and The Casbah. Hopefully we will see some more of you (and perhaps some repeat visitors) at our upcoming shows at the Coach House and The Troubadour.

Tonight (Monday June 7th) is our first of a few nights off. We are going to be hanging out at a club called El Centro where Sloan will be making some musical selections as guest DJs. Please feel free to drop on by and join us. It should be a lot of fun.

If you have any ideas about what we should do with the rest of our spare time, please reply to this news posting with suggestions. I'll let you know what we decide to do.

OK, is this the show of the summer or what? An idea that was hatched whilst Chris and I were sipping ginger ale on an afternoon flight as the winter chill approached is now a reality: An outdoor summer festival show where we could play with bands that we dig. By the time Chris ate all my free cashews, we had a compiled list of bands that we would love to invite. First, we talked to our friends and promoter kingpins Elliott and Jacob and asked "Can we do this?" and they proclaimed "Yes!..and on the Island it shall be." Next, we got on the phone.

It is official, Sloan will be supporting Australian rockers Jet on their upcoming tour of the USA.  A complete list of the dates can be found in our tour section. 

This will be a great opportunity for Sloan to return to some of their favorite cities and to reconnect with fans in parts of the USA that they haven't been able to visit for years.  Hopefully they will also be able to reach out to some of the like minded Jet fans who have yet to experience Sloan's live performance.

Yes, I finally found out that my show is airing this Saturday night. I know it’s kinda last minute, but would you mind posting a little posty post about it on the site.

I don’t know what they exactly call the show, but it’s kind of "my" audio tour of Toronto. I’ll be playing lots of local music including Arcade Fire, Boy and Rick White’s new band, The Unintended. It’s on CBC Radio Sat. night at 11pm Quebec to BC), midnight in the Maritimes and 12:30 am in Newfoundland.

Hello everybody. It’s been awhile since we have updated our news. We have been busy. Allow me to bring things up to date.

The fall tour was pretty exhaustive. We played 29 shows across Canada. Try naming 29 cities across Canada. Personal tour highlights included:

• Ramones and Fleetwood Mac covers at an open-mic night in Banff.
• Scary, last-minute, improvised sing-along set in Abbotsford.
• Being joined with a full choir and horns for the encore in Belleville.
• Penticton... what the hell?! I did win $100 at the slot machine.
• the rock and roll motel basement in Sioux Ste. Marie. Great water pressure.

After the Canadian tour, we decided to spend a few months at home to focus on our families and friends and make plans for the spring and summer.

Now we have made it into the new year and I have been assured that the year of the monkey will be a good one for Sloan. Our booking agents are hard at work putting together a schedule for our spring touring. We are really looking forward to touring the US, and playing more shows in Canada. The new dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

We had an uncharacteristic release party here in Toronto, performing for a small group of contest winners and friends, and broadcasting the event on various radio stations across the country. More stations will be airing the show in the next few months.

Our Canadian tour is set to start on September 18, at Mount Alison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. We’re very happy to start the tour on the east coast, an area we don’t always have the opportunity to tour as much as we would like. Check back in the next week or so for a full list of dates across the country, as the entire tour is being finalized as you read this.
