Okay, so I know this is like three years later, but this was the best Sloan show I've ever been to and I've seen them 15 times now. I can't believe that no one has written a review. I didn't even know this thing exsisted until just now!
I can't put my finger on the reason why I thought this show was so good, it was just the feeling in the place that night. Everyone there were huge Sloan fans and they were all just as excited as I was about it. Not to mention that the Flashing Lights were opening and I was super excited for that as well.
I remember thinking all the way through the show that they were never going to play the Marquee and the Moon, which made me so sad. I love that song so much. When they did play it I was so exstatic, I don't know what it is about that song, I just love it so much. If I remember correctly they also played Chester the Molester and Deeper Than Beauty, which are all songs that I still think should be played at all shows.
The coolest thing at the show was the round that they made us all participate in. Not that it was hard, I think that was the most into it crowd I have ever been a part of. Delivering Maybes, what a song to do it to, it lasted forever. It created this incredible feeling in the place, a feeling that we were all old friends and singing this song was the most natural thing in the world. It lasted the entire time between the end of the set and when Chris walked back on stage by himself.
I remember wondering to myself what Chris could possibly be playing out there sitting at the keyboards all by himself. Then he went into one of the most beautiful moments I've ever seen at a Sloan show with Summer Is My Season. It was just an amazing moment that I will never forget.
The entire set list of that show escapes me now, it has been awhile, but I think that it was one of the most diverse and one of the most fan based I've ever seen them play. It will always stand out as the best Sloan show I've ever seen, and one of the best concerts in general I have ever been too....and thats a lot of concerts.
This was now like... seven years ago. And I still remember it as the very best time I've ever had at one of their shows as well. Considering I've never seen any other band out-do them live, I suppose that would make this the greatest concert I've ever been to. Good call on Summer's My Season and Delivering Maybes - knocked my socks off.
i remember this show. i was so excited to see the flashing lights open.
deeper than beauty was my fav of the set.
when they played the n.s. and chris sang "it's hard to believe you're a nova scotian boy" i screamed real loud and he looked at me.
