Excellent setlist, including opening the show with Underwhelmed and closing with If It Feels Good, Do It during the encore. Kinda disappointed that Jay and Andrew only sang two songs each (Lines You Amend, and a new one, and In The Movies and People of the Sky, respectively).
The crowd was pretty intense at times - blame the alcohol for that one. People actually tried to mosh during The Other Man.
But other than that it was a great show. The Kee is a really cool venue. I'll have a picture of Chris putting me in a headlock (reluctantly at first) up soon.
I have never seen this band before (live) but I must say they were absolutely awesome. I've seen Neil Young , The Dead , and many other notables but these guys were great. They had a great vibe with the fans and they are truly talented. I will definitely see them again. As for previous comments about the crowd drinking too much, this is a rock convert isn't it? Maybe you should catch the next Back Street Boys Concert, Sloan is party music.
SLOAN ROCKED!!
I must say that I couldn't have had a better experience. What isn't great about travelling up north to some beautiful scenery, with Sloan pumping in the CD player .. then getting to see them LIVE at one of the coolest venues in the province????
There were some eccentrics there of course (the drunken mosh pit, the "What will it take to get your shirt, Chris?" guy, the "please pose with the button doll, Patrick", and others among the most memorable.
Once I get my photos downloaded, I'd like to post some for others to enjoy.
All in all, great setlist (although you guys should play Deeper Than Beauty more often - Chris, just suck it up and do your best, dammit! If you can't sing it, let the audience! We love it!), I think the new album kicks some serious ass, and I wish you guys the best of luck in the coming year.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us .. that's one of the coolest things about being around ya!
Can't wait until Edgefest.. rock on guys.
Sloan has an energy, it's infectious! What an awesome concert, well worth the 3 hour drive from Hamilton!
The new album sounds like it is going to be amazing. I can't wait to hear the guys play more of it at Edge Fest.
All in all, a great venue, a great setlist and a amazing band!
Can't wait to dance with Chris again!
This was the 6th time I've seen Sloan, and I've never been let down. Opening with Underwhelmed was an awesome treat, although I wish you guys would play more from Peppermint, Smeared, and Twice Removed (other than Underwhelmed, only Coax Me & P.O.T.S. from those albums). Still it was a great show, and as people have already said, the Kee is the best venue around. Just one question: where are Andrew's songs on the new album?!? I can't seem to find them!
I just saw Sloan for the first time in concert on August 23, 2003 at Edge Island. They were so amazing, I can't put words to it. I'm a big fan of their music and we had the chance to talk to them after the show and get autographs. The were so down to earth it was refreshing to see they just mingled amongst everyone else. They won my respect for being so approacable. Edge Island rocked. Thanks guys!
What a great show with lots of energy, unfortunately it took a little longer to get there from the cabin than expected, we missed the opening song. What was it? As for drinking too much, yes there was a buzz but a good buzz collectively. Did anyone see that cops episode out front after?
That was the 3rd time I had seen Sloan at The Kee and was probably the best, although it was the smallest crowd I had ever seen there. Starting with Underwhelmed was awesome!!!! I didn't witness the COPS episode outside after, but I do remember there being a very large Police presence that night. More so than any other time I had been there. It actually took away from the fun a bit. At any rate, a 5 star night.
I agree with R Heath that starting with Underwhelmed was the way to go. A good show, a good time! Palais Royale was definitely my favourite, Steamwhistle Brewery and The Kee are tied for second!
As for the COPS incident, I witnessed the main event. I have a bet with a friend of mine on what started it all. Accounts of the evening are welcomed!!!!!!!!
need i say that this concert kicked???! on top of being a really high-energy, well-executed show, the guys were (as usual) super nice and willing to hang out and chat afterwards. and willing to pose for stupid pictures with button dolls, too....and to sign tshirts from concerts that occurred years ago....oh sloan how i love thee.
