even though you guys lost your voices and their wasnt a very big crown there, you still put on a really great show. it was nothing but a big party. props go out to chris for singing, even though his voice was not there, and to the *extra* members of the band, for looking confused, but still doing a great job on the harmonies! THANKS SLOAN FOR PLAYING HERE!
i apologize on behalf of abbotsford for being a really really shitty town.
WOW!!!! that was the coolest Sloan show I have ever been to!!! It ended up being at "city limits" cabaret insted of the arts centre, which was a good thing because it turned out to be a total "Sloan" party!!! yeah c'mon!!!!
the gig last night in abbotsford was an interesting one... it went a little something like this;
i got to the city limits cabaret at about 7 and the festivities got underway at 8 i think. cuff the duke opened the show with another solid set (it was my second time seeing them in two days) then it was the wait 'till the sloan set. i was pretty close to the front of the stage and i couldn't help but notice as the roadies were setting up that two extra microphones were up there to compliment chris', jay's and patrick's. bizzare i think to myself.... anyway, when they finally came out to do their set they were joined by some familiar faces from the vancouver rock scene. up there on the stage we had sloan, misty and juice of the yoko casionos and greg from the peppersands making a sardine can look cozy. rumour has, and this is only a rumour so don't quote me, but the lads were out late after the gig the night before at the vouge theatre and blew their voices doing an array of classic rock; namely AC/DC and KISS at the green room. tsk, tsk lads... tsk, tsk. anyway, the aformentioned van-city rockers sang what could not be sung by chris and patrick and a splendid time was had by all. my best friend andrew (the guy in the green shirt) was even able to join the gong show on stage for a revamped version of everything you've done wrong after a quick audition by chris. now gentle readers, this is where my story ends. i hope you've enjoyed our time together. oh, and by the way, i just want to say hi to our new friends laura and jacklyn (sorry if i spelled that wrong) it was a pleasure meeting you both. don't forget to come to the capitals gig at the pic on the 5th.
peace and carrots,
robert, on behalf of myself, tyler, andrew, jonathan, jennifer and kristin.

I knew heading out to Abbotsford that the show was not going to be a normal Sloan show. With the venue changing to a bar I figured it would be quite small and have a shortened setlist. And then when Chris came over to say hi and then ask if I could sing about an hour before Cuff the Duke hit the stage I knew I was in for an interesting night.
However, eventhough both Chris and Patrick blew their voices after Friday nights show at the Green Room, it was one of the best Sloan shows I've been to. Chris' 3 friends came on stage to help out and looked to me like they had the time of their lives. They were a lot of fun and would sit or duck so that they wouldn't block the crowds' view of Sloan. Wayne from Cuff the Duke came on stage for one song (it was early in the set...maybe Coax Me??) and rocked out.
I only have one complaint about the Abby and Vancouver shows...they sold out of 4 Nights AGAIN! This happened last time they were here too. Chris, if you have shitloads of them at the Sloan HQ...bring them on tour!! Great chatting with you after, Chris. Don't worry, I'll never stop coming out to your shows. Love the new jeans :) See you in the Spring. A OHHHH
heya guys! i love sloan...and wanted to go to the show so bad!! i was pretty sad when i heard that it ended up being a city limits instead of the abby arts centre... cuz i couldn't get in. i'll look forward to the next time sloan comes to abbotsford!

SLOAN STOCK was to be completed this evening, and it had been an excellent time, so far. But my weekend was about to become a whole lot better.
I was the first person to arrive at City Limits Cabaret, getting there at about 5:30pm. I walked up to the front doors of the club to hear Jay doing a sound check for "False Alarm", and on the way, I saw Andrew walking towards his bus. It was neat to see my favourite band getting prepared for a show.
Let's talk about the highlight of my weekend now. With the venue being such a little one for such a big name band, I was already so close to the stage. With the exception of some huge bodyguard standing right in front of me, I could see everything as clear as crystal. And I thought to myself, "I really hope I get to sing some three-part harmony tonight", because I have this one that would work well for "Coax Me". Well that didn't happen, but once it was made known that Chris and Patrick didn't have much voice left, I worked up enough courage to mention to Chris in between songs that I can sing, and Chris said, "Can you sing 'Everything You've Done Wrong' for me right now?" So I sang the trumpet part to him and he said "OK, come on up!" !!MONEY!!
So I got to perform with my favourite band on earth. And I brought my SLOAN STOCK sign with me, too.
Afterwards, I "had the chance" to chat with the inspirational Chris Murphy. This is what I told him: "Thanks for having me up on stage, tonight, I really enjoyed it. I just want to let you know that I have a true passion to see Sloan become so famous, like Nickelback (but better)." But Chris told me, "It can't happen, it can't happen. It's too late for us." - Well let me tell you something Chris, it's not too late, and it will happen.
Listen to me, everyone who loves Sloan. Support them with all your might. Even if it means buying another copy of each album, support them. And tell all your friends that Sloan is your favourite band. They're #1!
I didn't know Robert and Andrew already reviewed this bitch. They did it when everything was a little fresher in their minds. But I'm gonna weigh in too. Andrew singing Everything You've Done Wrong was the highlight of my night too. Meeting Jaclyn (it's like that Robbie HotDog) was cool too. And seeing a pre-Sloan membership Greg MacDonald on the stage along with the incredible Yoko Casionos was a treat. Cuff The Duke remains the only opening band whose album I've bought after a gig. And they are also the last good opener I've seen for a Sloan show. Good gig. One of my favourites. And to think I wasn't gonna come after having seen the Vogue show the night before.
