Fan Reviews

Wow, what can I say really. The show was awesome....so many great acts but Sloan was worth the ticket price alone. Great sound, the band was tight and the crowd was great! Makes we want to drive down east for more!! The 40 minute set was just not enough...;(
And nice ass shots for the crowd, Chris!
Ciao!

Sloan at Edgefest, they fucking rocked! Sloan really got the crowd rocking, it was amazing. Altough since they didnt play during the night they didnt get a light show the way OLP did, but "If it feels good do it" really made up for it. All in all, Sloan rules!

Just wanted to thank Patrick, Andrew, Chris and Jay for rockin out at Edgefest 2003 on Saturday. Truely I came to see Sloan and The Hip since I haven't seen the Hip play in quite a long time. Sloan's energetic and fun set was certainly deserving of being on just prior to the Hip because quite honestly, the sets by Stereophonics, OLP and Finger 11 (my god what freak scheduled Finger 11 to play later in the show than Sloan???) were mediocre at best. I loved the CFNY interview with Chris and Jay prior to the show, guess who stole the airtime? My only wish was that there was to be at least a track or two from Twice Removed and Smeared, but nevermind, the new album rocks and we heard plenty of the singles as well. Thanks for the autograph session and thanks for an amazing set in an otherwise subpar Edgefest show.

Cheers Guys!

"C-Dubbs"

best show ever! sloan was amazing! they better be back in toronto again soon!

The guys from sloan stole the show in my opinion. Great show guys. I am from barrie and thanks for playing at the last show for molson park!

The show was awesome! Every band, especially Sloan, played their best, I thought! Definitely one of the best concerts! Thank you so much for being there.

The boys kicked some serious butt at Edgefest. Keep up the good work

It's great to see Sloan's new album making such a positive impact. The show was fantastic, if short, but the lads definitely kicked out the jams.

I would personally like to thank Jay for taking a look at a CD we gave him, from a band called "The Flying Public". As a good friend of this band, it's great to see that established musicians still take the time to help the little guy out. Thanks guys.

Hopefully there's some tour dates for Southern Ontario on the new tour because we'd like to see a longer set.

Hope to see you guys in town soon, and thanks again!

Sloan show number seven for me. I'll start with the bad (sorry guys): I'm pretty sure this was the first time I've ever seen Sloan play three songs in a row from the same album, let alone open a show that way. They usually do a better job of mixing it up. And as I've said before, please please please play more from Peppermint, Smeared, and Twice Removed! Where's "Pretty Voice," "Take it In," or "I Hate My Generation"??? Also, I got kicked in the head by a crown surfer and my girlfriend had a toe nail ripped out when a mosh pit suddenly broke out during "Rest of my Life" (who moshes to that one?). Luckily she was willing to wait until after the set before we went to the first aid tent (what's a pint of blood anyway?).
Now for the good: even though it wasn't as mixed as it has been, it was still a good set. Sensory Deprivation is great on the album, but friggin' awesome live!!! Could Chris get a little more crazy on the drums?!? Sloan's poppier songs are rocked up live, and their rockier songs are extra rocky live, or something like that.
The autograph session was also cool. Thanks for signing and posing for pictures! As many have said before, Sloan is very down to earth. I'm glad you got a laugh out of those 1990 pictures from Chart (to quote Chris: "How did that get kept?" and Jay: "Isn't that aweful?").
Looking forward to show number eight. Hopefully it's just you and not at a festival so you have a longer set.

Wicked set by sloan! Kinda sucked eating all that dust in the mosh pit, but other than that the whole show was an amazing blowout! Does anyone know where you can see some video footage, cause that would be the shizznee!

Sloan Rocks!

Peace............

Hey guys, great set at Edgefest. I know you weren't all that keen on playing at first, but I'm glad you did. I missed ya in the autograph session cuz I was in the beer tent *grin*, but I figured since I hung with you in Bala, that it was ok.. but I was there in all Sloan-ish glory. It was amazing how many different kinds of fans that set reached.

I really do wish you much success with this new release - I am still waiting for my Japanese copy!

Hope to see you again soon .. try and play in London this time!!! Let me know if you need to be shown around..

Rock on ..

does any one have the set list?

Sloan, you rock!!!
as my favourite band, I can finally say i've seen you guys. you were totally awesome. being way up front for you guys, i might have been squished, but you can bet I was singin, I just turned my head and could also see my friend steve, also a crazy sloan fan, singin away. my girlfriend might have been there for OLP, but i was there for one band only.
SLOAN ROCKS!!!!

sloooooooooooooooooooooooooo-aaaaaaaaaan, first time seeing them live, definetely not the last, i've become a full time sloan fan ever since EDGEfest.

what was the tune called that Andrew sang with that cool riff?

Ryan LayfieldSeptember 12, 2003

It's called Sensory Deprivation, and it's on Between The Bridges.

Another great Andy song: Seems So Heavy from Navy Blues. "Watching from below, I'm reminded/ My girl is ready." Great line.

When, oh when, will Sloan stop getting screwed over? You guys deserved way more air time at Edgefest. Why didn't the Edge schedule you for an evening performance? Ok, if you had a scheduling conflict then that's understandable. If not, then I'm really at a loss for words about why you, in my opinion, didn't get the respct you truly deserve. I still loved seeing you play, but I'm looking really forward to a concert where Sloan is the headlining act. By the way, Action Pact is AMAZING! Hope to see you soon:-)

Sloan played an awesome set, and were the only reason -really- for my attendance of EdgeFest. My friend's and I were lucky to be right up at the bariier for Sloan's set [but we forfitted our prime spots to go to the Sloan signing]. Sloan definitely deserved more time to play. They had a tight set, awesome stage presence, great dynamics and pretty good set. I was disappointed by the lack of songs from their older albums
ie.Twice/Smeared/Peppermint] but we can't have it all, can we? Can't wait to see you guys again. And if anyone has a picture of Chris Murphy licking the microphone stand...please put it up.

Oh my god, you guys rocked at Edgefest! Totally made my day!! You guys are one of the best bands that preforms live!! I can't wait to see you on Nov 7th!!!
