I gotta say, sloan is my favorite band so maybe my opinion is a little biased. but this was the best concert I've ever been to.
They rocked the house for an hour and a half.
My only complaint is that I was the only person around that I could see singing any of the songs off the new album (besides rest of my life).
Great work guys, and great album.
Saw Sloan at mac last night and needless to say they didnt dissapoint. They were full of energy in the small atmosphere, playing new tunes and the old classics. If ya have the chance to see sloan go, its definatly worth it.
The Sloan show on friday night was absolutely fantastic. So much talent goes into every song and the overall atmosphere in our capus bar was lifted by the upbeat style of music. Action Pact is a great albumn and I have and will continue to reccomend it to any rock fans. I saw Sloan at Edgefest a month ago and it was great as well, but seeing them in a small venue like a campus bar was the best way to experience it.
There's nothing like seeing a great band in a small venue, and this venue was even better than the Kee. Other than being in physical pain from being right next to the speakers for Gimme That (we moved mid-song), Quarters was great. As for the set, I guess I've become spoiled in my Sloan concerts, because I still cling to the hope that I'll get to hear lots of older or lesser played songs. But other than "I Can Feel It" and "Sensory Deprivation" it was pretty much exactly what you'd predict (all the singles from Twice Removed through Pretty Together, most of Action Pact, none of Peppermint or Smeared). My friends who saw Sloan for the first time here didn't have any complaints about the set, so it's definitely just because I've seen them in concert so many times. Still it was great to see Sloan again and well worth the incredibly cheap admission ($15 bucks?!? I paid almost three times that to see 'em at the Kee!). Unfortunately I can't make the October Brock show, but I'll be seeing them again soon...
