I've only been a fan for a couple of years and last night at Stubb's was my first Sloan show. I'm not sure if my message from last night has been "approved" yet. It seemed like a handful people were familiar with the band (judging from the applause when they walked onstage). I managed to secure a spot at the end of stage right. so when you see my photos, they'll mostly include Patrick ;-).
By the end of the set, they definitely had some new fans (they impressed the girls next to me who thought they were "really good"). I wish I took better notes during the show but I was focused more on taking photos. They certainly made every effort to work the crowd. Chris even jumped into the stage pit with the microphone trying to get the crowd to yell "Sloooo-ooannn !" I couldn't quite tell how well the chant caught on though LOL.

Here's the set list :
Ready For You
Live On
G Turns to D
Money City Maniacs
Sensory Deprivation
The Lines You Amend
The Good In Everyone
Gimme That
If It Feels Good Do It

I'm so glad I came to this show! I went to the merch table after their set, bought an Action Pact poster, a "4 Nights" CD, and the merch guy gave me 2 sets of the collectible cards (brilliant idea <grin>). I met Chris and Jay briefly by the merch table. I listened to Jet's set from afar , I couldn't see much of the stage from the back of the venue. I ran into an acquaintance that I occasionally see at shows and we hung out for the rest of the evening. When we left the venue, I spotted Andrew talking a few fans outside of the tour bus. I talked to him for a few minutes about the upcoming Austin City Limits Festival. I asked him if Patrick was still around and Andrew got him to come out of the tour bus. He was very gracious and he mentioned that he noticed my "Canadian Girls Kick Ass" T-shirt while onstage :-). And I thought it was because of my goofy looking singing along (lol). I think that they're all looking forward to the Austin City Limits Festival in September. I can't wait ! :-)

Excellent show in front of a substantial crowd. I was hoping that "Hollow Head" would get worked into the set - maybe at the ACL fest is September.

I've been anxiously awaiting Sloan's return to Austin, and I was not disappointed! Not by them, at least... only by the lack of time they were given by concert promoters due to a 10:30 curfew imposed on outdoor live acts.

Anyways, point is... Sloan was great. They have a very unique selection of songs on each cd, and a very unique scenario of all four members singing lead vocals during one song or another.

Even though it was still daylight out, Sloan did a great job of energizing the crowd and showing them what true rock is before the mediocre Jet got on stage to sing their one commercial hit that is not indicative of the rest of their music.

I can't wait to see Sloan again at ACL and hope they get a slightly longer set time for that show!

Side note: Play She says what she means at ACL! That song alone would have rocked Jet out of Stubbs. As is, I think Sloan proved they are a better rock band that Jet with a much more versatile sound. Overall, I'm glad Jet brought them on for the tour, and I'll see Sloan again at ACL!

I loved Sloan! I went to see Jet and before them i saw two bands... the first band was ok but i loved having Sloan open for Jet. They were so hyped up! I LOVED it. I'm planning to see them in September. Keep it up Sloan.

I went to Stubb's on July 20th to see Jet, and was amazed by the opening band, Sloan. My friend Josh and I both loved Sloan right when they played their first song, but unfortunantly most of the people attending this show were only there because they saw jet's music videos on mtv. You could tell when they got angry when they told me not to yell or jump around,it's a fucking concert loosen up or leave. Anyway Sloan fuckin rocked!!!! I saw the girl with the canadian girls kick ass shirt on there, too.
