there were some comments for this show posted earlier. I wonder where they went off to..
does anyone have a setlist for this show?
Im sorry I missed it.
thanks!!!!
just got back from the show...it was awesome...my favourite part of the show was when the really cute guitar tech ( i think his name is Paulie i heard the bald sound guy call him that!) handed chris the bass while he was on his knees for the last song..paulie you rock!! Oh yeah...Andrew is my favourite.Sllloooaaaaaannnnnn!
Sloan definately rocks!! It was my second time seeing them and I was really excited. I saw them first in Boston at the Paradisio two months back and became a convert. That was an awesome show! This one, however, was too short. But hey it was great :o) I remember hearing three or more people next to me say how awesome they thought Sloan was. And I thought YAY! more converts!!!
First an Australian band called The Everyones came on and they were pretty good, then Sloan. During Sloan, there was this really rude and obnoxious guy (probably drunk, high or both) who just started roughly pushing everyone in the front row. The security guard finally got him and he was whisked away. Later Chris said ,"You know i really miss the asshole in the front, don't you? He was like hitting girlls, I was like woh" That helped to settle the tension in the front couple rows of people. There was alot of stupid and outdated crowd surfing too. (Patrick kindly gave one of the surfers the finger ).
Then the jets came on and they were pretty good. I think I would have liked them better if I knew their songs. The whole crowd was really into them though. I went back with my sister to buy merchandise and luckily met up with Chris. He was really down to earth and cool, amusingly rather unlike his crazy onstage persona. I asked mike? (I think he was mike nelson [he was selling the merchandise]) ,a very cool guy, to take our picture and he did. Mike had a weird fetish with this tiger tail with eyes, but he was just being goofy and funny. Thus ended my night and i went home a very very happy girl.
what songs did they play?
I think this is the set list, but I might be off by one:
It feels good do it
Ready for you
Backstabbin'
The rest of my life
Fase Alarm
I was wrong
money city maniacs
The lines you amend
She says what she means
Sensory deprivation
Priya!
Thanks so much.
Looks like a great set.
Now I know what I missed....
Anyway all Sloan fans, I have some disapointment about this little endeavor. Swell job though, mates, but next time you have to play Money City Maniacs or She Says What She Means, more off of Navy Blues. Also, the Agora is the worst building I have ever been in. Haven't you smokers seen the t.r.u.t.h. ads?. Nice acrylic kit Andrew!
I saw Sloan the night before this as the opener for Jet at the Newport in Columbus and was, needless to say, totally impressed by them. But the next night, at the Agora, I became a fan. This band genuinely seems to enjoy playing live, (they just look like they're having so much fun!) and that made the already great music, even more enjoyable. I listen to Sloan more than Jet anymore and it's not often for me to go to a show that the opener steals the show from the headliner, so congratulations on being such a great band, Sloan. Your live show is great and your music is very solid. Come back to Ohio soon!
