i got in, huzzah! i could talk about how sloan stole the show and were the best band of the night, but you've been reading that about every other date on this tour, so i'll skip that part. great job, and unless i'm mistaken (new orleans people can correct me), we got to hear "she says what she means" for the first time on this tour. i got to meet chris, jay, and patrick over the course of the evening as well. nice guys, all of 'em.

setlist as i remember it:

ready for you
live on
the lines you amend
she says what she means
money city maniacs
sensory deprivation
false alarm
gimme that
if it feels good do it

if i missed anything, please correct me. good job boys. hope to see you back in dallas come september. if not, i'm heading to the austin city limits festival.

I've been a fan for over 8 years and last night I finally got to see you guys for the first time. But -- NO TSHIRTS? I think that alone should warrant a promise that you'll be back in Dallas again very soon, headlining your own tour, with plenty of merch. Capische?

I've been a Sloan fan down here in Dallas for over 10 years and have waited a long time to see the boys. I was a bit relunctant to see them, for fear that I'd be disappointed, but wow. Those boys are tight and threw out the rock like I was hoping they would. I was bummed that they were out of shirts and that the guys didn't hang out much in the back. Alot of us were waiting..... but what are you gonna do? I'm sure they're over all that. Also, there is a bad ass indie record store a block from where they played that alot of cool indie bands go to when they are in town and do instores or hang out rap with the local indie scene lovers. I thought for sure Sloan would have checked in at least of there, but the record store (Good Records) said they had tried to contact them but that they weren't into it. Kind of a bummer, first time in town you'd think they'd reach out and try to make some new fans and/or hang out with the fans they already have here that have waited around for them for a decade. Anyway, a little disappointing. But having said that, they played to a sold out venue, blew the doors off and it seemed they got a great response. Chris looked pleasantly surprised. So thanks Sloan, for the rock, but unless your just over the whole "rock star" thing, I'd have liked them to "play the game" a little their first time to city. Still, I'll make the drive down to Austin for the ACL Festival and give them another chance....

My first Sloan show ever and it was amazing! I met all the guys before the show and they were so great to my friend and me. They signed our CDs and took pictures with us, and talked to us for a little bit about stuff. Before they came out people were chanting "Sloan...Sloan...Sloan" from the back of the club and I was too from the front row where I was. They blew me away when they played Money City Maniacs, it was almost too much. I can't wait to see them again on August 7th; I will be attending their show on Toronto Island.

Sloan played such a tight powerful set that Jet had not a chance to impress me. Went for the thick guitar riff driven sound that I love and found it, just not with the headliner as I expected!

Wow!
I have now seen Sloan three times since their first album Smeared! I saw them at the Sattelite Lounge in Houston on their first tour, 2002 in Nashville at 12th and Porter and finally back in Texas at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas. I remember pleading on this site 4 years back for Sloan to come back to Texas and finally it has come true. I was a little bummed out becuase i had to cancel my trip to the "grog shop" show in Clevland until i found out you guys were coming to Texas. The show in Dallas was not only exceptional, but you stole the night! I invited a friend of mine who was new to the Sloan experience and he claimed that it was the greatest rock show ever! The sound was great and everyone hit the three part harmonies on every song! For me... The highlights were "Good in Everyone", "Feels good do it", "lines you amend", "money city"! Hell all of them! Thanks Sloan for
making it a special night for me and my friends! See ya in Austin in September!
