No one has sent us videos from the show yet! Send us your video so we can add it to the site.
I had never heard Sloan before this night. I'll admit I went to see Jet. But Jet was a mere second to Sloan. Basically Sloan was soooo good. SLOOAAAN Jet was ok but they're just not nearly as cool as Sloan and that's all there is to it.
I saw Sloan for the first time at the Roseland on July 10th and I have to know one thing. How did this band get on the Jet bill? They SUCK! There tunes are not catchy at all and thier stage show is boring. The only thing worthwhile about this band is when they switch instruments. Sloan should seek out people to write songs for them. Maybe then they can play with the older kids.
Again Sloan proves that they are magically delicious (and opened up a can of whoop-ass at the Roseland) I was a few rows from the stage in front of Jay and it was wild to see the conversion of impatient hardcore Jet fans. It wasn't long before they were chanting 'Sloooooaaan' between the songs or whenever Chris asked. Jet and Sloan was a great combination. Let's see Sloan headline at the Roseland.
So, I was soooooooo like crazy excited to see Sloan last night, I almost wish Jet didn't come and play and just let Sloan do their thang for 2 hours. They really won the crowd over last night, given the fact that only about 2 people there knew who they were when they started.
SLOAN WAS BRILLIANT AS USUAL and the energy was really great. :)
But I didn't even enjoy Jet because I kept thinking about Sloan. The roadies also handed us Chris' Pick for no apparent reason. I had to fight my sister's friend for it lol.
So anyway, the show ended and we headed to the merch booth. I was mainly there because I heard that sometimes the Sloan boys come and say hello. Well, it took a good half an hour (more actually) to get me another Sloan shirt, because the merch people were slow. During this time we made friends with the Everyones, who were really nice. At this time I figured "Well Sloan hasn't come out by now, so I guess they are not coming"....at that moment, I turned around slightly, and who was standing towards the back?
CHRIS
I almost died because I think he is just beyond cool. I walked up to him and he was like "HEY!" and he asked me my name and put his arm around me and we talked for about 10 minutes and he signed an autograph for me and wrote Sloan in bubble letters. I then said "Man you are like my own personal Jesus" and he laughed and said "DID YOU JUST MAKE A DEPECHE MODE REFERENCE?"
I wish I had a camera and he said 'I always hang out after shows. Bring one next time and we'll take a whole roll of film!" He then hugged me and had to go.
I love him. :)
Hey. Sloan is fucking amazing. You guys are really awesome. I too will admit I went to the concert to see Jet but you and the other opening band rocked. I will definately be buying some of your records. Rock on guys.

I've seen Sloan 4 (or 5?) times, most recently on their own Action Pact tour with the AWESOME Logan's Run lighting effects in May. But this was by far the best I've seen them (I saw them at the Black Cat in DC and Chris was getting over the flu, so no scissor kicks or microphone licking). Chris was on fire, the only drawback were the four kids on X in front of us making out nonstop, and that the show was too short.
I'm still all giddy and excited and just thinking about Sloan, Slooooo-ohn and the amazing Chris Murphy (whom I apparently frightened by squeeling when he came out and said hi and signed an autograph....). But doesn't he know on Saturday he became my new rocknroll boyfriend?!? ;)
Thanks for the setlist...I'll be burnin' a CD of that so I can listen to the show over and over in my car and on my ipod. I wish I didn't have to work or I'd follow them around (although I don't know that I could take that much Jet, who Sloan of course scorched off the stage).
By the way, Chris mentioned they'd be going back and playing the Jet cities again to build on the buzz from the Jet shows. While that broke my heart as I live in a "non-Jet" city (D.C.), I'll come back to NY and check 'em out again.
*rocknroll forever*
i was there for sloan and sloan alone, and it was a most fantastic show. i hope a lot of those jet fans were converted.
i also have to say that all the other kids there for sloan were totally AWESOME. we had a nice little sloan posse in the back corner. hope to do it again. hoorah for sloooooaaan.
OH SWEET!!!
they really are coming back in the fall!!!
I mentioned to Chris I heard they were coming back in September or so,...and then he said something but I kind of blanked out because he is too cute so I didn't really catch much of the response lol
From what I remember he was like "Ohh yea we're tryin''
Otherwise i'll drive up to Toronto to see them
DAMN I LOVE SLOAN!!!

What can I say more about Sloan that hasn't already been said....I was in awe at the Roseland. The guys have once again topped themselves. What a friggin' good show, even if it lasted only 30 minutes. Glad to hear there was small groups of Sloan fans peppered throughout...I was chanting SLOOAAANNN and pissing off a group of teenie-boppers that only wanted to hear Jet...their loss for not giving Sloan a chance, but that leaves more Sloan for us!
This is my 3rd time seeing Sloan this year and it's a great show to end on...until next time!
I only thought about Sloan again today b/c I was talking about the Jet show with someone. But I must say, I went to see Jet, but my sister had informed me that they were a good band. I really enjoyed their performance and thought it was fantastic how they could switch instruments and still play well. (That's talent) I wouldn't mind seeing them again, but if only I could find any Sloan CDs in stores!
First time seeing Sloan on this night. Met Chris, REAL cool person. Jet sucked big time. Love their LP, but drunk Australians don't cut the Dijon for me, Y'KNOW? Sloan absolutely were one of the best live bands I have ever seen. Right up there with KISS. Never stop playing, Sloan!! Joe Pensanti from Stratford, CT
