I just got home from seeing your show! You were amazing! Chris, I approached you after the show and asked for an autograph for my friend (she is crazy about the band and was the one who gave me a ticket). I was very impressed! Thank you for being a very nice stand-up kind of guy! (the bubble letters were a great touch, she went crazy when I gave her your autograph) I will be watching for your next concert date and will most definately be getting tickets!!!!! Thanks for making a great end to a great evening!!!!!!

Well, the boys were in top form last night, wouldn't you agree?? I even saw Patrick crack a smile...that was almost a highlight of the night. No, my highlight would have to be when Chris asked for my "I Love Chris Murphy" shirt between songs, circa 1997, and then proceeded to wipe his face with it. Classic Murph.

Afterwards when Chris was signing the shirt some of the licensed photographers were snapping photos of us so that was a little weird...dont' know where they'd be using those shots. Too bad I have to pay big money if I want them.

It was a pretty good mix of old and new, actually quite a few oldies, they even started off with Underwhelmed. And Chris did not disappoint on the skins for People of the Sky and Sensory Deprivation.

Oh, another highlight of the whole day were the "Freaks from Table 9"...anybody see them? Holy christ were they interesting.

And Chris, Hawksley is very rock and roll. Don't be jealous.

Kristy.

I too enjoyed the Sloans latest Vancouver engagement. They brought the rock, as they always do. But I must say, Jay looked less than thrilled to be there.

Although there is one thing that would have made the show a lot better. Namely no "moshing." It's Sloan, not Limp Bizzle. Nothings makes me angrier than a bunch of drunk jocks incesently colloiding with some nice ladies who are there to see the kings of the popificated rock.

So in closing, if you finds it necessary to bash into another person at a concert, then please attend a Linkin' Park concert. But if you wish to hear good tunes, then give the four lads from Halifax some of your money.

Wow I can't even imagine people moshing at a Sloan concert. Its like rioting at a Kenny G show.

What Sloan song can you even mosh too?
On a side note....people still mosh?
worlds gone mad and back to 1995.

well i did notice the moshing at the show and even had beer spilled on my a** but that still didn't damper my excitement from the fabulous show our boys did. Hawksley was awesome but to me he was just a warm up for better things to come. My roommate does not like that last line so to calm her down i will mention how madly in LOVE she is with Mr Workman and how she wants to marry him. HEE HEE. She came for hawksley and i came for sloan so it all worked out.
Well anyway to get back to sloan..... I got a bunch of great pictures of the guys on my side of the stage because we were right up front against the railing, it was soooooo cool. At one point during the show i was taking a picture of chris and he saw me and asked if i wanted his picture so of course i took one (he did a high kick for me), my roommate says i did a very visual squeal which chris then reacted to and then i took another picture. So it was the typical sloan show, very good fun, good tunes and me acting like an idiot.

ps i also got a setlist. YAY ME!

They were moshing from Underwhelmed until the first slow number. Once they started I was curious and apprehensive to see what might happen if Sensory Deprivation were to be heard. When it was... bedlam. I too was in the first few rows, but I was lucky enough to avoid a beer shower. Though I was witness to a couple of them.

Big congrats to Chrissy for nabbing a set list.

I hate to sound cranky, but the Plaza of Nations is a terrible venue, and as the name suggests, this "festival" was more about drinking than music. My goal was to see Sloan and get the hell out of there as quickly as possible.

The guys didn't seem very into it at first (Jay looked like he was riding a bus or something), but Andrew finally got things rolling with "People of the Sky". Can't be very interesting to play "the hits" for a bunch of drunken frat kids, but their set was solid and left me wanting more.

Hope to see Sloan again (headlining in a small club) soon.

i moved from edmonton to vancouver a short while ago and i won consert tickets at my new job. i had the choice between Great big Sea or 54-40. i was never a big fan of either band but i was that SLOAN was playing right before 54-40. i herd the odd Slaon tune and liked them and i have a freind in Edmonton who is a big fan. so i go just to see Sloan with no idea was was going to happen. durring the first band or so that played that night, people were a little shy to move toward the stage so i was able get a spot front and center. (right next to one of the cutest girls i have ever seen but i digress) Sloan came on and they rocked that mofo! it's been forever since i have herd some rock and roll. i have herd a lot of punk, metal, alternative and other forms of rock latly, but this was pure rock and roll! Chris Murphy was kick ass. he moved back to the drums. while he was playing he looked at me just watching and not moving like the rest of the crowd. he gave me a blank stare. i was just focusing on the music. everyone was singing along. i wanted to but sadly i never herd of most of the songs. i only reconized about 2 or 3 tunes. when a hard part of the song they were playing came i started to bang my head a bit and Chris murphy laughed it off. i saw the KISS stickers on their guitars. i love kiss! i tried showing them my kiss wallet i had with me but they were gone by the time it ocurred to me to show them. i now own 4 of their albums and i an tottaly going to see them next time they are in town.
