This was my first Sloan show, and it was everything I liked about the band. Jay, Patrick, Andrew and Chris all took turns at the mic, Chris showed off his impressive drumming chops, and the harmonies shone over the crunching guitar. The audience was singing along and so was I. I took my friend who'd never heard of them before and he walked out with a copy of Action Pact.
Great show. Thank you.
sloan was awesome, as usual. altho' i've been a fan since i first saw the "underwhelmed" video on 120 minutes (i think henry rollins was hosting, too), this was only my third time seeing them live, and they continue to bring the rock with them when they come to town. the new light show is simple, yet impressive and effective. i hadn't heard any of the new album until last night (i know, i suck), but i did buy it at the show. oh, and the trading cards rule; i wish i had the whole set. at first, it seemed like everybody had better plans, but the show ended up filling out after the kicks played. unfortunately, i missed most of their set.. but i was pleasantly surprised to find out that one of the members once worked stock with me at the dollar tree. i hadn't seen him in a few years, so it was good to catch up briefly. but we couldn't talk long because the kicks had to drive to virginia, where they were to play with puddle of mudd (ha!) and shinedown (oh, jeez) today.
Man what a great show. Good to see them still together, and sounding solid. This show was right up there with recent DCGC and the last Superdrag shows up in TN.
Kudos to you guys, you make me proud to be a power pop rock nerd.
Thanks so much for coming to Atlanta. I've been waiting 3 1/2 years, ever since I left NYC. I've seen you guys twice a year for about 3 years when I lived in NYC. It's always great to see you guys live, I'm just sorry the venue was not as large as what I've seen in the past. I don't know what we need to do to get you guys some real airplay in Atlanta? I mentioned that to Patrick at the show. Hope you guys enjoyed playing here and hope to see you again. Maybe the Jet tour will take you back soon.
