This show was absolute insanity. The crowd was so small yet it felt much, much bigger. I guess that's what you get when you play to a crowd full of drunken first year university students :) I was pushed up on the railing at the front, a sober 4th year surrounded by a throbbing mob of drunkenness, and despite the occasional crowd surfing shoe in the face and the pouring rain I had a lot of fun. Erm, I was right in front wearing the bright green hoodie, if Chris or anyone else in the band remembers me.
This show was NOT "Limited to Students" after all. I hate throbbing mob of drunkenness. Somebody threw the eraser at Jay (how rude is that). I got kicked in my head by crowd surfer. I have no voice left in the pouring rain, I'm getting sick. But I had a lot of FUN too! So glad to hear "500 UP" (thank you, SLOAN!).
Hey sloan.. i was one of those two guys that was "making fun of you" in the front row haha. you guys played so well and it was realy cool being to a concert in the rain. ive never been to a concert in the rain before. i also liked the switching of the instruments i thought that was rad. if you ever want an opening band (i might as well give this a shot), check out www.coalitionsite.com and just check us out. opening for you guys would be insane. see you guys another time
Man, I was lucky to have heard about this show just a few hours beforehand. I've never been in a crowd so small and yet so crazy. Some of the more drunk and aggressive people were pretty annoying but for the most part the people were great, lots of energy and appreciation and chanting. Thanks, Sloan, for putting on as kick-ass a show as ever despite the dismal weather and small crowd, and for playing Penpals and 500 Up! Come back soon. :D
I was at the Sloan Glastonbury--sorry, Vancouver--show last night and endured that awful downpour, too. Kudos to the boys for playing a solid set despite the conditions (although I think "Sensory Deprivation" could have been less sloppy?).
I do feel compelled to apologize for the idiocy of whoever whipped that eraser at Jay during "The Lines You Amend." That was not cool. I was happy to hear Jay yell, "F**k you!" at the heckler in reply, though. Snaps to Jay for not taking that crap!
I second the motion already put forth: Thank you for that "500 Up!" All soaked and freezing in the rain, it got my spirits up to sing along. Thanks guys, and hope to see you in Vancouver again soon.
sweet show, anyone have a setlist
I was also crushed against the front by drunken first-years, and I got completely soaked and dropped my glasses in the mud, but it was totally worth it. Such a high energy level despite horrific weather. It was so much fun, thanks!
And come to Vancouver again soon! Please!
i woke up this morning with a sloan song stuck in my head and i remembered why this was my favourite concert i've ever been to. i came here to find out when you guys would be coming back again!
it was pouring rain and i wrecked my chemistry text book and i shared an umbrella with a random girl. but 5 years later, i remember everything so clearly... i cant believe im in one of the pictures someone took. thanks sloan. this website, your band, your music are awesome!! Please come back!
