Fan Reviews

Yea, Sloan was great, but i left early because the foo fighters were starting to drag on...and on... I think they should have played some old stuff!

This concert was one of the best concerts I've ever been too. Everybody rocked!

Excellent show. You guys deserve bigger venues like the Saddledome. The set was a little too short but what are you going to do when rock god Grohl says it's my turn at the mike. Thanks for coming to Calgary. Maybe next time you can claim the throne and headline.

You know the old saying about never getting a second chance to make a first impression? Sloan proved it wrong at the Saddledome last night.

I've been listening to these guys on disc and the radio for a dozen years, and enjoying them, but nothing could have prepared me for the live show. The lights dim and out walk (sorry guys, but it's true) four aging refugees from my 1980s high school computer class and I'm thinking "wow, time has not been kind to these guys."

Then they powered into their set and all hell broke loose. I think my preconceived notions were actually physically driven out of me by the speakers. By the time Money City Maniacs rolled around, I think there were cracks appearing in the Saddledome ceiliing.

THESE are the guys that released Rest Of My Life? That Generation X anthem that's been played ad nauseum on lite rock stations across the country like The Grateful Dead's Touch Of Grey? It was like finding out your staid and solid wife of 10 years is secretly a super freak.

I've rarely seen a band feed off audience energy like these guys did. The more they got, the more they gave until the whole place was chanting "Slo-oan! Slo-oan!" And the musicianship was second to none. It's always a pleasure to watch a group that's been playing together a long time. Sloan was as tight musically as the Doobie Brothers, who could probably play their shows in their sleep.

Incredible job, you guys. It was the first concert I've ever been to where the opening act was worth the price of admission on their own.

So, i never was a big Sloan fan. However, last night when they played... i was well taken back to the days of when music was something special... when music was more of a secret hide out that you can spend hours in and just listen and be taken away in the tunes. Sloan, i went to the dome as a Foo fan, but i left as a Sloan/Foo fan... you honestly aren't appreciated as you should be... from now on when i want to hide, i'll just walk downtown to the music store and visit my new friends.

You guys were so ridiculously awful that I wanted to throw up. Fortunately The Constantines and Foo Fighters were both incredible.

Edmonton, not Calgary... what?
