For the second time this summer, I was fortunate enough to see Sloan! Although they only played a short set this time because they were opening for The Foo Fighters, they were awesome! Can't wait to see you guys again!!!
Foo Fighters concert Saturday, August 13th. The Constantines opened the show while people were milling around. Shortly after they left the stage, and as people were settling into their seats anxiously awaiting the Foos, this unannounced group got on and started playing.
I was in the 400 seats, got my binoculars out and was able to determine it was...Sloan! Sloan fans who happened to have tickets had hoped for an appearance, but pending an announcement stating otherwise, we figured it was not to be. They actually showed up--what a treat!
Sloan rocked out and, despite the big forum and daylight still lingering, they had the audience hyped by the time they finished their set (about 40 minutes later if I recall correctly).
This made an already special evening even more stellar. Thanks, guys!!
Sloan's unanounced opening set definitely was a great treat for us fans in the audience. A big surprise too! Thanks for rocking out and getting the crowd going!
The most exciting part of this surprise was that I had seen Sloan perform the DAY BEFORE at their free Rogers concert (!!!). Here's a play by play of my friend and I way back on the lawns at the Molson Amph:

me: *expression of bewilderment and puzzlement*
friend: Why are they playing Sloan?
me: *expression of pure joy and surprise* BECAUSE IT IS SLOOOOAN! *yelling of "SLOOOOooooAN" ensues* oh mah gawwwwwd.

I gave a cd of my best friend at jay he was a good guy !! he was sitting just behind me amazing !! and i was surprise to see them there and very happy !

I heard rumours that Sloan might make an appearance at the show, and when I heard the intro to Losing California I went nuts. Opened up with my favourite Sloan song. Too bad the set was short, but the fact they even showed up is enough for me.
man sloan kickd so much ass that night. i had pit tickets and it was soo rad. SLOOOOOOANNNNNN!!!! AMAZING show. and the Foo just f*en killd it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah! I was at this show. I was on the lawn and I was actually there because I bought tickets thinking that Sloan were going to be there. So I was like "Ok, they won't be there, but Foo Fighters are pretty cool." So, then I heard the intro to "Losing California" and I thought "Oh that's kind of nice, since they can't be here they're at least playing their music." Then I look on the stage and I literally got goosebumps. It was awesome!
