the show was my first canadian concert experience. i survived it an managed to take some pix. more later. too tired...
Who was the opening band that night??
I’ve not been to the Kee before, and am not certain I’d go again. Bala and the lake in general are gorgeous, and I really enjoyed my day there and listening to the soundcheck from the deck out back, but the venue itself is like a big sloppy drunk frat-fest (and don’t get me started on the Bala Bay Inn – I still have a bag of big fireworks looking for a room to be let off in).
Regardless, the band was really “on”, and The Good In Everyone was one of the best versions I’ve heard live. Jay, your acapella “Who You Talkin’ To?” with us after the show made the whole trip worthwhile. Totes.
(Oh, and contrary to certain rock star's apparent opinions, not ALL fans who “go to too many shows & make signs” are drunk and obnoxious. Some of us just like Sloan, but hey, if you’d prefer us not to, keep on talkin’ like that...)
I have to agree with Beth, I wasn't there for the party the drunks and anything but Sloan. I had worked hard to get to that show and it will be one to remember.
I got to talk with Jay afterwards and it made my night. So thanks again to the band for playing so close to home, not sure if I will be returning next year. If I do I'm for sure not staying at that gross hotel. PEACE.

A wonderful show indeed, I wasn't so kind this time though, I thought, ahh these people are really drunk and ruthless tonight so why not block some views, and sing along with the fellas in the front. Sorry I couldn't find a pillar to stand against, but sometimes giants need to see properly too! You guys played awesome again, I thought the sound guy could have turned you down a little, I'm not being an old guy here, I just like to to hear your voices. Thanks for playing Friendship, its one of my fav's! I think Chris nodded a little recognition at me from the Waterloo show, well thats the way I thought I saw it. Thanks to the stage guy for handing me the set list, that is a great addition to the collection. My wife and I were married between the waterloo and Bala shows, and we regret not asking if you guys do wedding? MAybe when we renew our vows in 25-30years or so?

So Patrick,
Was your tongue firmly implanted in your cheek when you said that you no longer write rock songs for Sloan? Say it ain't so!?
