ROCKED.
Sloan was amazing, as always. They have been a constent on my favorate list for 14 years...and i don't see that changing. There was some funny banter about JALE. Whom, they assumed no one knew. The first time i saw sloan, jale opened for them detroit. I wondered what happened to those ladies, and chris finally gave up the info. I think there might have been more behind the story...more history between the bands. It was pretty funny. Especially when the crowd started chanting JALE, instead of sloan.
thanks again to Chris, Patrick, Jay and Andrew!
Great show! Maybe the best Sloan show I have seen!
Jay looked under the weather and his voice wasn't all there, but he pushed through one song anyway. Great mix of old stuff and new stuff. I love seeing you guys in small clubs.
Great stuff!
Sloan is the only band i ever get "gitty" to see. And that's been going on for almost 14 years now! I was bouncing off teh walls before the show. It was my boyfriends first time seeing them...and after the show, he understood why i was so excited. They played more off Twice Removed than i had heard in a while, but not my favs, " i hate my generation" and "Snowsuit Sound". They only played Underwhemed off of Smeared...another bummer, i always keep my fingers crossed for "I am the Cancer". I have a set list..guess i could post it.
They funniest thing was, JALE. They mentioned the last time they played Double Door was in 94 with JALE, all girl NS band. I was them in 94 with JALE in Detroit, and loved JALE. They assumed know one knew who they were. The crowd started chanted JALE instead of SLOAN. They still didn't believe we knew what they were talking about. I finally asked Chris to play "Ali", he said "By Jale?" I said "YUP!", he laughed. It was pretty entertaining, because the whole thing went of for about 5 songs.
anyway, thanks to Chris, Patrick, Jay (get better!) and Andrew. Ya never let us down!
blown away!
S. rocked my balls off! Double Door was an ideal venue for their shenanigins and double-guitar onslaught.
Well, thank you gentlemen for one great hot sweaty mess of a rock show! The night's surprises: Chris forsaking his wee Fender for a Gibson, Jay's uncharacteristic tough singing night (which seemed to rule out "Good Ol' Number 5" from Action Pact), and the Jaaaale chant---classic! Everyone played great, though, and we were glad to see fine attendance despite the annual Illinois rock fan migration to Milwaukee during their Summer Fest. Musical tweeks to some of the older songs made for great listening fun for us. Before the show, we were prepared to cling to Patrick like Rhesus monkeys while he was in the local music store, but he was on the phone. That reminds me; do you think I can get "let's play, quack, quack" for a cell phone ring? Thanks again for rolling through town, and enjoy the rest of the tour!
Such a great show, even with Jay under the weather. Does anyone know what the song was with Patrick on drums and Chris on guitar?
S. rocked my balls off!
sloan was tight as fuck. double doors air conditioning was not.
Great show all around. I hope Jay is feeling better. He seemed a bit under the weather (Cleveland will do that to ya) but he and the rest of the guys soldiered on and did a great job.

Wow. Derfinitely one of the best Sloan shows I've ever seen. Though is that set-list above right? Something seems out-of-order. Oh well, who cares?
My only gripe...bring more large black T-shirts next time you come to Chicago. Seriously though, it was a treat to see you guys in Double Door instead of Metro for a change.
P.S. I had a blast DJing that night and thank your soundman for being such a swell guy and letting me cue up your intro music!
Dear Sam O'Rama,
The song you are referring to (the one with Chris on guitar and Patrick on drums) is aptly named 'Deeper Than Beauty' off of the critically acclaimed album Twice Removed. You never know when that song will be performed, so get those lyrics memorized before they blow through town again.
Although I was able to retain my testicles (unlike poor Jerry - see previous postings), this show did indeed rock! Glad that I drove in from Iowa to catch it. How about playing in Iowa City sometime?
PS to the Double Door. Did you ever find Jerry's balls that were rocked off during the show when cleaning up afterwards?
