I'm still riding the adrenaline rush from Sloan at the Grog Shop last night. They mostly stuck to up tempo rock material and were "tight but loose" in their performances. The crowd seemed really appreciative to have them come back to Cleveland, and were vocal most of the night. (Sloooaaaan) The only hiccup in the set came with some monitor issues toward the end of the night, but the band shrugged it off and kept rockin'. They played 4 Between the Bridges songs, which was the highlight for me.

The set (not in order)

Losing California
Underwhelmed
Live on
Lines you Amend
Money City Maniacs
Coax Me
Before I Do
People of the Sky
Suppose They Close the Door
She Says What She Means
The Good in Everyone
The Rest of My Life
All Used Up
Try to Make It

Encore:
Sensory Deprivation
Penpals
The Other Man
If It Feels Good Do It

Chris said that a new record would be recorded at the end of the year.....out in early '06.

The intro to "Try to Make It", given by Chris, went something like this: "I saw David Lee Roth at a Casino in Vegas about a year ago....Dave said 'here is a new song', and everyone sat down" They had a laugh and did a much harder version than the one on the record. Good Stuff!

Dig it.

It was a pretty rockin show. I spoke to Jay for a moment before the show and he made it seem like it might not be very good. It wasn't the best one I've been to, but overall it was a good time. The crowd was great which always makes for a fun experience. The complete set list was:
Losing Cali
Underwhelmed
Live on
Lines you amend
All Used Up
Coax Me
Money City Maniacs
Before I Do
People of the sky
Try to Make it
Poor Boy
Suppose they close the door
Friendship
She Says What she means
Everything you've done wrong
Rest of my life
Good in Everyone

Encore:
Sensory Deprivation
Penpals
Other Man
IIFGDI
After writing it out they really played a lot though it seems like the concert flew by.

I can't believe I only get to see them 1 time this year =0( Please come back to the area soon!!!!

truly awesome show!

At least my purse got in a shot with Chris (it's the zebra striped one in the corner of the shot with the girl in the "I Love Chris Murphy" shirt)!!!

It was my fifth time seeing Sloan. I was concerned after reading their own reviews of their shows online...but the overt excitement (and volume) of The Guys From Columbus behind me kept me going. I could not let the young Oasis-worshippin' whippersnappers out-Sloan me!

At times it seemed a little slower in pace, but it was strong from start to finish...the song selection was interesting with some hidden gems. I'm glad "Sensory Deprivation" has become a staple. And the mere mention of DLR made the night! Worth the drive from Pittsburgh every time! Thanks, guys!
