Fuckin' amazing show! I wish I could have met your drummer, being a drummer myself, I really like this style and wanted his autograph, oh well. Great show, come back again sometime soon.

That was the best concert i have ever been to in my LIFE! I just got home and i have almost lost my voice because i was screaming so loud! The music will be ringing in my ears for DAYS! I took almost a whole roll of pictures, and i hope they turn out so i can submit them!

keep canadian music alive!!!

This was my first live Sloan concert after being a fan for over ten years, and they did not dissappoint me. The Sound of Music festival is a family event, and Chris made sure to remind people to be careful of the little people in the audience, and there were many. At one point he seemed worried about the bodies being thrown around the mosh pit, but noone got hurt and the concert continued without incident.

The band seemed in good spirits, and most of the songs rocked out. The Other Man and If It Feels Good Do It were saved for the encore. (only one unfortunately) Andrew and Chris swapped drums and guitar a couple of times, while Jay took over bass duties on the Andrew songs. I wasn't sure how the band felt about being here, but by the end of it all they really seemed pleased to have done it. Chris mentioned that they didn't expect to play in front of so many people. Way to go Burlington!!

I will definitely attend another Sloan show in future. SLOOOAAANN!

Yet another amazing concert!! This is my 4th one and you guys always put on a great show!!! I got quite a few pics.. and some video.. if they turn out well I'll send them to ya.
The festival security was quite lax I must say though.. I can't believe you guys had to ask them to get into the crowd and settle things down!! I was worried someone was going to get killed in there (2 fights broke out mid concert - and the guard kept pushing the crowd surfers back into the crowd instead of taking them out) I'm suprised there weren't any more serious injuries.
Great crowd involvement as always!! Looking forward to the Toronto shows.. I'll definitely be there.. and if the venue allows.. I'll be bringing my good camera this time!!
Keep on rockin guys!!!

This was my first Sloan concert, and as an added bonus, it was free. I am really impressed at how good the band sounds live. There was such a great atmosphere, and everyone was clapping and singing along. There was even people standing on others' shoulders just to get a good view of the stage. This concert truly rocked, and I am now an even bigger fan than before. SLO-O-OAN!

I suppose I've seen Sloan 3 times now (1999, 2002, 2005), and i guess that i'm wondering how they can't keep the (crowd) surfers at bay. I've got a feeling that they are wondering too. Or something.
played almost every song from A-sides win, except for 500 up, as well as False Alarm, Live On, Sensory Deprivation and Suppose They Close The Door (a very nice surprise pick)! (and a snippet of Sunday Bloody Sunday). The band was very good, although i do wish they'd bring back the keyboards. I look forward to seeing them again in 2008!

Fantastic show in Burlington! Huge crowd and the band seemed pumped. This is probably my 12th time seeing the band (although first time since 2002) and they were tighter than ever. I think they've slowed some of the classics just a touch, but instead of hurting the songs, they sounded clearer and tauter than ever. Always maturing, always getting better. "Rest of My Life" sounds so much better live vs record...I noticed Jay adding more crunch on the guitar which made it extra crispy. Nice touch.

Crowd (old and young) was absolutely loving it, which still makes me wonder after all these years why Sloan isn't as huge as The Hip in Canada. The songs are there, the live show is there...Sloan is a national treasure. I hereby demand that everyone at the show go out and buy "A Sides" immediately...it's mandatory...hurry up you slackers, what are you waiting for?

Set list (not in order, sorry...I suffer from concert dyslexia)
Losing California
Live On
Underwhelmed
Money City Maniacs
The Lines You Amend
All Used Up
Sensory Deprivation
Friendship
Coax Me
She Says What She Means
False Alarm
Try To Make It
Suppose They Close The Door
The Rest of My Life
The Good In Everyone
(encore)
People of the Sky
Other Man
If It Feels Good Do It

By the way, a big "thank you" to the band for their kindness and patience after the show. We got autographs from the whole band after much scrambling (Patrick even helped us complete the quartet of signatures by finding Andrew after my wife pulled the "baby card" from her deck of guilt: "Patrick...you have to get Andrew to sign, my baby is sleeping and we have to drive two hours to get home, etc., etc., whine, whine!"). It's the first time I've had the pleasure of meeting Patrick after all these years (I've met Murph before) and he is the most sincere, kind, class-act gentleman one could hope to meet. Must be that down-home Maritime upbringing. He asked us about our baby (Aidan, who had partaken in his first Sloan show) and talked a bit about his 18-month old (Marshall, I believe). I also asked him if he remembered the gig in 1994 in my home-town of Winnipeg @ Le Rendezvous where Murph invited the crowd onstage; the show had to be stopped because the band couldn't play because of the ensuing chaos (I myself got pinned beneath a pile of bodies on a monitor). He said he did and I believe him, because he's said in interviews that Winnipeg is one of their favorites. Winnipeg loves Sloan. He also commented that these days it would be strange to get the crowd onstage like that...yes, we're all getting older, Patrick. Thanks!

Fantasic show guys. It was cool to finally get to see you guys play live. Great preformance.

Sloan you are truly an amazing live band thanx for the memorible experience. U played all my fav tunes and i loved how Losing California was the opening song AWESOME!!!!! UR interaction with the crowd was grate and good call with telling people that there were little kids in the audience. It was my first time in the front row at any concert and i had an amazing time!!! Thanx to all those i met last night (especially the Chris Murphy fan club) u guys totally added to the experience!! Highlite of my day was meeting Chris, short but sweet and i will always remeber that!! Thanks for taking the time to take a couple of picture with me! Also being able to snag his guitar pick at the end of the concert was super!! The only thing i didnt like was getting kicked in the head by a crowd sufer *thanx* i guess thats just the price u pay to the rock gods above. Overall there are no words to describe how i felt about the concert but i think i can sum it up for u....... Chris Murphy licking the mic stand from bottom to top....SWEET!!!

Thanks again to Sloan and the fans!!!

Becky Holder
P.S. See in in Fort Erie!!!!!

HOO RAH!!
i had an awesome time last night!
thanks for the free concert sloan,
i love you guys!!!

Hey I was at this show and I was wondering if anyone knows a list of the songs that they played at this concert. I know they opened with losing california and I think that all used up was 4th. I also was wondering if anyone knows what songs they played for the encore.

-Chris

WOW. just...wow.
unbelievable day and a surreal concert by sloan to top it off.
lucky me, i was right at the gates, somewhat in the middle, but a little stage right. at one point i was holding up my camera and i am so sure that chris was pointing towards me to take a picture!!
i'd like to believe he was pointing at me :).
lovely night with the most lovely boys; sloan.

oh, and i walked right by andrew as he exited the tour bus with adorable little kids, because i'm an idiot...

holy shit! that show was really amazing...i'm loving the fact that you guys played <<the lines you amend>> its honestly my fav sloan song. PS thanks Chris for getting some security in the pit, cuz it was just getting ridiculous. like don't get me wrong, i have nothing against moshing or crowd surfing but it was getting outta hand.....you guys gave'er

Hey Guys,

Great show as always!! As always ended up with a nice sweet spot infront of of Jay and Andrews spot at the rail.

I'm gonna have to say I was pretty happy with security didn't find them lax at all..infact very involved with the crowd and what was going on...not once did I get a kick in the head! That's a first all due to them warning us of oncoming body surfers. And also surprisingly they were very very friendly. Nice for a change.
The show was unbelievable!! It really goes to prove these guys do it for the music and fans . So much energy was put into it by sloan. Just as much if not more then all the shows I've attended last tour.

I still say alotta long time fans need a sing-a-long to Deeper then Beauty once again.

Thanks for the wonderful night guys!

Wow what an amazing show, it was my first Sloan concert and i wasn't dissapointed. It was awesome meeting all the members of Sloan, Patrick talked to us for way too long, what a nice guy. And Jay inspired me to buy a Rickenbacker guitar! I can't wait to see you guys at the friendship festival on the 3rd.

The Burlington crowd was interesting.

People at the show believed "Suppose They Close the Door" and "False Alarm" are good songs to crowd surf to. There were a few pushing and moshing problems as well. I am surprised that there were people there who thought they were seeing a hardcore band.

The band's set was excellent though.

roar. had a good time... it was worth the drive from TO!

by the way, play Toronto this summer, please!!

hey i went to sound of music last night (june 18th) and it was amazing OMG i couldn't blieve a free sloan concert that close to my house that was amazing sloan you gotta play every year at sound of music

Mike RidleyJune 20, 2005

Saw you guys last night...thanks for putting on a great show.

People people, this is a plea: If anyone hell-bent on crown surfing is planning on attending the Ft. Erie show in July, PLEASE DON’T. For those who spoiled the show for the rest of us in Burlington by tossing yourselves on our heads, could you not see how the band hated it? And since when is throwing empty bottles & random garbage at them a sign of adoration? For the sake of “fun” & making yourselves look cool, you were endangering kids and small girls (such as myself) who cannot support your weight. (And the irony of an ugly pit fight breaking out during “The Good In Everyone”?? Oi. This wasn’t a Sepulchura concert.)

So if you absolutely MUST mosh the hell out of yourselves, kindly take it to the back of the crowd - or better yet, an empty field - and shove EACH OTHER around. We came here to see the band, not the sole of your foot in our face.

Regardless, thank you to Sloan for grinning & bearing it, you guys never fail to deliver. And big thanks to Jay for False Alarm.

(P.S. - Kudos also to the redhead and her boyfriend on the barricade in front of me for being so gracious & accommodating of my big camera lens. You guys are what Sloan fans are all about.)

- beth

an awsome show sloan got to meet them all except andrew, i will definetely pay to see you guys again!

AMAZING!
you guys are so cool! loved the concert...first sloan concert. was so amazing i went out and bought a sides win today. amazing musicians...so hottt. chris murphy licking the mic stand was definitely one of the highlights!

Fantastic show, guys! Many people in the crowd were very irritating, but the show itself was terrific. Suppose They Close the Door was great!
And many thanks to the guys for being SO nice (and patient! Unbelievably patient!) to me and my friends.

Well, after reading all the reviews that have been posted about this show, there's not much left to say....

I too was dismayed by the goofiness of the crowd, and I could see that the boys were not having the greatest time. I've been to many Sloan shows now, and this was the most disappointing of them all, but that had nothing at all to the with the band. They gave it their all, even with the visible irritation and concern for the audience.
But, I have the Kee and Fort Erie shows to attend consecutively in a week's time, so I know there will be more Sloan-fun to be had!

I just want to say a thank-you to Jay again for being the sweetest and most patient man for talking to my friend Lisa in Halifax on my phone. You made her day/week/life. You always make me smile the hardest.
And yeah, I want to thank Chris too for sneezing into the same phone earlier in the day while talking to another friend. So, if you get a cold Jay, you know where you got it from! (Eww cooties!)

Thanks again for being the band that you are, and giving me the opportunity to meet some fantastic people through mutual respect for your work.

Rock and fu*%ing Roll...!
