Tonight's show was spectacular. There is so much to write about, so I made a list of all the unique things, and will leave out the obvious like totally blowing away the crowd with a bevy of amazing songs...
<p>
-entered the stage with a recording of Sinking Ships playing.
<p>
-Sloan played several "oldies but goodies" including Before I Do and Take It In (which Chris forgot some of the words to) which was great for the legions of loyal, diehard fans to appreciate.
<p>
-played a slower version of Underwhelmed, that was a pretty cool take on a rock classic.
<p>
-added some feedback to a few songs, transporting us back to the early 90's, and adding a forgotten dimension to the songs. A nice touch.
<p>
-avoided being electrocuted by the water dripping through the roof. Hopefully that was water and not sweat from the pumped up and screaming throngs of fans though! And hope that doesn't prevent Sloan from coming back to the Drink, which is the best locale that I have seen them play at (3 times).
<p>
-Patrick got really into it, performing all sorts of stage antics that thrilled the crowd. Chris better watch out, Patrick seems to have discovered the art of "performing!"
<p>
-Chris got himself thrown in jail for rocking too hard. Actually, he made clever use of the go-go/S&M cages that surround the stage at the Drink.
<p>
-Both Patrick and Chris got into the audience, melting the hearts of all the girls and giving high fives to all the dudes.
<p>
-Jay only played a few songs during the initial set, though he did look a bit sick when he first came out. Despite this, he still rocked the house.
<p>
-Andrew played a lot more songs than he usually does, including the above mentioned Before I Do. Thrashed the drums and mangled his guitar throughout the whole show!
<p>
-During the encore, Jay performed a wicked new song that is called something like "Before I Die." Hopefully, a new album will be out ASAP because this one has hit written all over it.
<p>
-Surprisingly, no "cool" crowd-surfers ruining the experience for everyone, which is a good thing. Lot's of girls dancing, though, which is also a good thing, provided they can dance.
<p>
-After a quick change, Pat, Chris and Jay came out to talk to the crowd, pose for pictures, and sign autographs, though only Chris had a Sharpie to sign my LPs. I don't even have a turntable, but will soon get one just to listen to the greatest collection of music ever produced. Too bad they ran out of merchandise so early, because I was dying to get some singles and the BTB LP... that will be for the next show then, since the pics I got with Jay were totally blurred, even after 3 attempts. Not to worry, I will not soon forget talking to him about his and Chris' new radio show and other stuff... I was not as nervous talking to them this time, but still had a case of motormouth, as my friends told me after!
<p>
To sum it up, the boys played their asses off, and really seemed to enjoy rocking out. Must be because this is their last show for a while (before New Year's). Was it just me, or did time seem to fly by. When they broke for encore I was like, you've got to be kidding me, then I looked at my watch and couldn't believe it... an hour and a half had transpired, but I guess that's what happens when you are enthralled! Thanks guys for bringing your musical supremacy to little old London... Don't ever forget us here, because this was the best thing to ever happen here!

Man I feel I have to apologize on the behalf of the London attendence and venue last night...C`mon the damn drink was leaking like a sink, but you boys kept ripping threw a phenominal set, and played some oldies (Before I do) which was awesome...Two thumbs up to you Sloan....because despite London`s lack of attendence, you managed to pull off a rocking show!!

It was a small crowd last night, but it was still very fun! How wonderful to hear most of Take It In! ;)
Chris, you tried hard to out-bass the guy from the Illuminati. The verdict is still out!

Thanks for a fun show!

Remember, coffee is your friend.

You guys kicked major ass Last night!
I saw you boys open for the Foo in August but your set wasn't as big, you guys were so much better, plus because I met Chris before the show. Come back to London guys.

Having been a Sloan fan since good ole' 95 and having been an even bigger fan of Chris Murphy's for as long made London's show at The Drink one of the highlights of my year...
<p>
It was my second time seing Sloan live, the first was in Edmonton @ Edgefest in '98. Their rockin' show in Edmonton was more difficult to enjoy thanks to the tweens jumping on my head and the pouring rain.
<p>
This time the whole experience was awesome from the minute they hit the stage to the minute I left the building!:
<p>
I was naively surprised to see as many, if not more male fans of the band. I guess my attraction to Chris all these years has led me to assume that the place would have been filled with other screaming, wanting to just make out with Chris girls like myself!
But it was so cool to see the enthusiasm for the best band in the world was shared, whatever the gender.
<p>
Time did fly! When you're a fan you know all the Sloan songs on their albums, making the number of songs they play at the show seem like too few, or perhaps it's just because I didn't want it to end.
<p>
When, unfortunately, the show did come to a rockin' conclusion, I unwillingly started to accept the idea of having to go home. After a quick break at the loo, (beer!), my friend and I saw Chris on the floor, graciously meeting fans and signing body parts.
<p>
I couldn't believe my eyes! I was about to meet Chris Murphy! I didn't know what to do or say but I knew I didn't want to come across as annoying or insane or something so I decided to try to play it cool. After most of the other fans had met him and left, we were next.
<p>
The whole conversation probably took a few minutes, but it passed within seconds. As I stared into Chris' eyes, his sexy mouth moving, I was trying not to say or do anything retarded, when all I wanted to do was eat the man alive, or at least tell him I loved him, which I did manage to accomplish in the end.
<p>
The whole experience was more than I expected, the band certainly delivered a great show and my only hope for next time is that more fans show up!
<p>
( oh, and that Chris let's ME make a man out of him!)
<p>
Sloan forever,
Love, Tina Teahen

Great show last Sunday, The sound was excellent. Those vintage guitars and amps and the intensity at which you played made for an awesome rock show. You guys are still one of the best Canadian bands. Keep writing and recording and putting on memorable shows. Thanks.

Might I say, though i missed the show, I feel like I was there given the excellent descriptions of the show. I have seen them at the Drink before. Hopefully, I'll make the next one - and the roof will be repaired. Can't believe they played Before I Do. Man there aren't too many groups that have gems like that - that are so anticipated live.
Cheers.
