Fan Reviews

The show was pretty sweet! I'm loving the album,...it's just too bad that they never seem to play enough Jay tunes!!!

Was at the show last night and loved the set - awsome choice of songs - great mix of old and new alike! My only problem was the venue . . . not big enough! I had a prime spot at front but was being pushed forward SO much I had to bail - or be squished?! (There was no security at the front!) That was really disappointing! The people at the concert were so drunk by the time Sloan went on (midnight) that they were obscene, sloppy and throwing drinks etc. I love the band and the concert was amazing - however I don't know if I would atend a concert at that venue again . . . ever.

This was a top-shelf show. Not only were the boys in fine form - pounding-out a heavy dose of the new material while mixing-in some old favourites - but the intimate venue gave the show a private party sort of feel.

What follows is an embarrassing, yet hilarious story that I feel I need to share with all of my friends on the worldwide web. While it's kind of gross, I'll do my best to remain tasteful.

After the Sloan show my friends and I had somehow weaseled our way on to Sloan's tour bus, where a small crowd had culminated for a Chris Murphy-led dance party. All of the essential groups were represented: New Order, ELO, etc. I undulged in what many would call a copius amount of the never-ending supply of Heineken that was stashed on the bus. After a very memorable night, I stumbled home and made my way to bed.

My sleep was crowded with bizarre drunken dreams, but one in particular stands out. In short, I dreamt that I was urinating in an alley, to the extent where the whole street started to flood (sorry, that's disgusting, but I'm going somewhere with this). I exclaimed "Holy f***, I have to stop this or I'm going to drown!" The dream ended there.

The following morning I awoke to a startling image. My guitar case, which I kept propped-up in the corner of my bedroom, was full of what looked like water. I soon realized that, yes, I had peed in it in a drunken stupor. Luckily the guitar had been removed prior to this. Thank you to Sloan for the beer which made this ridiculous story possible! I guess the good times made it all worthwhile (?).

A BIG thanks to Sloan for throwing a fantastic show and setting the mood for one of my favourite friday the thirteenths yet (they are always my favourite days)!!!

From one of the folks that not only enjoyed the Trash venue -where I am fortunate to experience that personal party feel over and over again over the years, cheers to the Trash- but I was also another one of those weird scientists that somehow found ourselves dancing in your HUGE tour bus parked on 123 Simcoe St. out front of the Trash ‘till 6am. Fantastic!!! Thanks for the chats which varied from families in Toronto, contaminated water and frogs, helicopter rides searching for caribou, Battlestar Galactica, and ending with personal thoughts on one of the most important topics of all time (or so our hormones tell us) relationships and love. Thanks for DJ’ing Chris, and teaching this old girl how to navigate through an iPod. I can extract DNA out of a turtle shell and build websites but all this pocket technology still seems to escape me.

Glad to see you enjoyed Ottawa, how you guys can tap into that energy source night after night is just amazing. Have fun up North and I hope to see you in Peterborough again sometime soon.... maybe a planned escape to get out of the city for a personal guided bike tour around the Kawarthas??? Just let me know.

Big Smiles,
Tina
