Fan Reviews

I'm glad I came up for this show. It was fun. Thanks Sloan!

My 12th Sloan show since latching onto them in 1999 was probably their best of all. 25 new songs in an hour and a half and Zero 'oldies'. I've seen them play said oldies 11 times, so this was a good break.

First off, the band was tight and I mean TIGHT. Hardly a noticeable bum note all night, and the addition of Greg MacDonald was a big part of it. It allowed the boys to concentrate on doing their four pieces without having to swap to the keyboard and leave a space in the sound (a la the Bridges tour). It's weird to see a fifth member in the band, but he did his job and he did it very well.

The songs sound even better live than they do on the record (well, CD, the vinyl was only at the "test pressing" stage, according to Mike Nelson), and I must say that "Fading Into Obscurity" is not only the best song on the album, but Chris's best ever. Sort of like "The N.S.", only written by the other drummer. Another note on the album, it's nice to see the pun factory is back in business.

Chris is definitely someone I'd love to not watch The View with.

All-in-all, it was a wonderful gig and those who get to see the new material are in for a treat. Best part of the night was seeing Mr. Murphy show up to the gig on his BICYCLE. Nice to have a short commute to work, eh dude?

I've posted some shots of the gig on my blog, fyi:

Hey, thanks to the guy above me for posting the link to my videos. :)

Hmm. It seems as though I forgot to comment on this show. Seeing as it was my first Sloan show EVER ... holy cow! What a way to kick things off! I was right in the front competing for space with Jay's monitor the entire show, and wow, it was fabulous. Hearing all the new tracks live made them even more awesome. Everything sounded great!!

Thanks Andrew and Jay for signing my BTB cards after the show :) (and to Mike for working the merch table like a pro!)
