Fan Reviews

Was one of The Chosen to bask in your radiance at Philly's World Cafe Live last night, and you guys blew the doors off the place. I've been a fan for several years now, but this was my first opportunity to catch Sloan live, and you confirmed what I've always suspected: Sloan is an excellent live band. By the end of the show, though, my friend and I were scratching our heads over one thing: why no songs from "Action Pact"? We realize this tour is to support the new album, but "Between The Bridges" was well-represented last night, so where was "Backstabbin'", "Hollow Head", "Reach Out" or "Fade Away"? "Action Pact" is our favorite release from you guys, and we were disappointed that you opted not to perform anything from it, but that was our only complaint about an otherwise stellar night. Thanks for keeping real rock alive, best wishes for the rest of the tour, and can't wait til you come 'round again!

An outstanding performance! Sloan played long and hard, with high energy and enthusiasm. Thirty-one songs in 90 minutes, with nary a wasted moment. All thriller, no filler. Patrick took the audience to task during the encore for not yelling/cheering loud enough during the regular set. We forgive you Patrick - - you weren't able to see everyone who was dancing. Please come back to Philadelphia. Best wishes for continued success on your tour.

Very weird to see Sloan and not hear anything from "Smeared," "Twice Removed," "Action Pact," or "Pretty Together"! Kinda missed hearing "Coax Me" and "Underwhelmed," but it seemed like Chris was losing his voice, so maybe that's why they chopped a few of those songs out - he sounded great while singing, but the between-song banter was very hoarse and whisper-y. Otherwise, a good set - by far, the coolest encore I've ever seen them do: Losing California, Marquee and the Moon, Anyone Who's Anyone.

Another awesome outting in Philadelphia for the World's Finest Band! No matter how many songs the band perform, it's never enough and they leave you wanting more. A solid set featuring many numbers from NHTEOI along with older favorites of mine including "Losing California", "The Lines You Amend", "Money City Maniacs", "Everything You've Done Wrong" and "The Good In Everyone". It was great to see the band clearly enjoying themselves all the way through, particularly Jay who seemed a dynamo onstage. Loved the banter of Chris, Andrew and the keyboardist on the art of fucking up! Patrick indeed scolded the crowd for not being louder, but clearly he was anchored at the quieter corner; I was singing throughout the show, possibly to the disdain of those around me - but who cares, I had a blast! Seriously, all the people surrounding where I was were great, much swaying and dancing was going on - Sloan fans tend to be mature in a good way. After the last encore we decided to wait around in hopes that Chris would come out as he had at the last Philly show we attended at the TLA a couple years ago. Indeed he did and I was able to have a few words and my photo with him to cap the evening of fun; he's really great with the fans. My daughter counts this as her first concert and she seemed to love it! On the way home, a couple who just moved to the Philly area from Detroit noticed that we had a Sloan poster and said they had also been to the show tonight and we had a nice conversation before parting ways - interestingly, the man mentioned that his ipod blew out during the uploading of the bonus tracks from NHTEOI - I know these songs are powerful but what are the chances? I want to take this op to thank the band for all the great entertainment over the years so far, all the dvd video releases and youtube things like the blair witch spoof and the making of NHTEOI are quite endearing to the fans. The funloving nature of these guys is evident and highly appreciated! I'd also like to thank the webmaster of this site for having a well thought out layout with wonderful functionality for Sloan fans to contribute our reviews and photos of the band we love so much!

Great show in Philly this weekend, one of the best Sloan shows I have seen and I am in that category of seeing Sloan more than 5 times so I should probably have some kids. I am a Detroit transplant though and have heard Underwhelmed at every show before this one. Why no Underwhelmed? Come back to Philly soon.

Holy crap! You fellers must have been on some good medicine since your Hoboken show because it was like night and day watching you in Philly.

Thank you so much for showing Philly how great your live shows can be. You deserve so many more fans and I think you earned a bunch more on Saturday.

Thanks also for teaming up with The Small Sins! It's good to see Kevin keeping busy when he's not shooting and editing DVD material for you.

P.S. If memory serves me correctly, this was show number 11.
