We came out to see Sloan in Barrie on New Year's Eve and I have to say....they really beat the cold and rocked the stage!! It may have been FREEZING outside but Slaon made the trip from Burlington well worth it!!

Minus 27 degrees Celcius wasn’t enough to stop sloan from performing a kick-ass show which, in part, was to celebrate Barrie’s 50th -- sloan style. Nor did it stop a good size crowd who wanted to ring in 2009 in the sloanly way possible.

How cold was it? The Technicians setting up had to heat up the audio cables so they could be uncoiled. It was so friggin’ freezing! Talk about Snowsuit Sound (no they didn’t perform it New Year’s eve, there was already so much of it going around)! Fortunately, sloan warmed things up for all that had the opportunity to see the show. Great Job! Great Show! Great set list! Twenty-seven below was no match for sloan!

So many great moments in no particular order:
• Chris introduced Patrick as special guest “Nash the Slash” (he looked like him too)
• The completely impromptu sloan rendition of Roadhouse Blues
• Chris’ Megaenergy performances of Not a Kid Anymore and She Says What She Means (that’s the Chris way of keeping warm?)
• Greg’s teasers of other sloan music played on the keys between songs
• Chris and Patrick in a bit of a guitar duel during The Lines You Amend
• Loosing California – yes they had to play it
• Fireworks at midnight
• sloan, sloan, slooooooaaaaannnnnnnn and more sloooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnn, 1.5hrs of music spanning Twice Removed to Parallel Play, Yay!

The band all looked like they were having fun and projected it – big smiles, super high energy, tons of enthusiasm! Can’t wait for their next show in the GTA.
