Well it was a cozy show in sleepy Cloverdale, always nice to see; and of course hear Sloan.
I've been playing the new album a fair bit, it's proven to be a good after work stress reliever. My work has been intense,I've been working in a facility where we do psych assessments on 12-19 yr.olds with mental health issues.
Some days I liken it to being a rock star, people screaming, calling you names, throwing stuff at you. I really like it though, it's exciting and dynamic and rewarding when it's all said and done and police have left and the mess has been cleaned up. haha mostly joking....
Too bad about the Kravitz/Sloan shows,I was looking forward to seeing that. Seems like time for a proper concert rather than the festivals and such Sloan have been doing the last few times I've seen them. Mind you the Capital X in Edmonton was good,my son met me there but had seen other friends on the way in so only showed up long enough to collect the parking fee I'd agreed to pay if he drove his own car there. Who wants to hang out at the fair with your Mom anyway.
Well, me, as it turns out cause I took my Mom to the Capital X a few days later to see Matt Mays & Thornley, she is a big British rock fan Zep,Deep Purple and so on. So Matt Mays plays, she likes that and then Thornley ended their set with some Fleetwood Mac cover, which I can't recall the name of now but it was off Rumours. And then it was the fireworks. Now I don't know if Thornley planned it that way or what but my Mom complained all the way home about "what kind of shitty band would end their set with a cover of someone else's music". I still think it's pretty funny and point being too that Thornley would have been an inadequate sub in for Sloan. Mind you my friend Jenny really likes Thornley so there you go, there's no accounting for musical preferences.
Have a wonderful time in the Carribean. Jay - don't forget sunscreen. See you guys next time.
