Awesome show as always. Jammin' Java was a new venue for Sloan (maybe Black Cat was already booked) and it was not bad at all- smaller than Black Cat, but about the same size crowd was there. It should have been more convenient for us to get to Vienna than the city, except that we were stuck in traffic on the Beltway for 30 minutes on the way there.

Sloan played a mostly random set of songs, which was actually pretty cool. They played all five songs from their new online-only EP and an unreleased new song from Andrew, as well as B-side "At the Edge of the Scene." Andrew's set contained an unprecedented five songs, although that may be because there was such little room to move around on the stage that it made the most sense logistically to get it over with at once. They took a request to play "500 Up" during the encore, although they got requests throughout that they humorously denied with "that's also a good choice, but we're going to play something else," except when someone requested "Great Wall" right when they were going to play it anyway. The only album not accounted for, I think, was "Action Pact."

Though it was mostly covered by a hat, Patrick was trying new things with his hair: he had a goatee, and his hair was shaved on the sides and getting long in the back; kind of a combination mohawk/mullet, he wore it well though.

I didn't witness any of the band watching the opener as they usually do, but we did see Jay & Chris leaving through the crowd and coming back (getting something to eat maybe). They were signing autographs and meeting the crowd after the show. Can't wait to see them play again - thanks for remembering us in DC as you always do!
