Awesome show! Not nearly as long as I'd hoped youd play, but it was the first time I'd seen sloan live, so my expectations were unrealistically high. Noting that, the next time I catch you guys live, I'll make sure it's at a smaller venue. There was thousands of people to contest for viewing space with. Musically, fucking awesome. They hit on nearly every album in the span of an hour and a half, two hours. Plus, I got to hop on a fence and scream praise at Andrew Scott as he walked out of a trailer after they had finished. Well worth the trip across the border, and I plan on doing it again.
This was an absolute great show, but once again, a Canadian (see Ottawa in particular) crowd disapoints. This was a free show from one of the top 10 (if not top 5) Canadian musical artists/bands of all time behind only the likes of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, The Band and such. Yet the crowd was practically absent until "The Rest of My Life" came on. It is a shame that a band that has such a great history has to play in front of such a dull crowd. Props to the band for bringing their typical great energy to the show notwithstanding the crowd. Keep on playing through the catalogue boys, there are very few songs worth skipping.
