Sloan

I've been to several Sloan shows over the past decade (!) or so, and while all have been memorable for different reasons, none has matched the Bowery Ballroom show on June 29, 2011. After the opening hat trick of "Follow the Leader/The Answer Was You/Unkind (killer tune!)" they dug deep, and came up with one of my favorite songs, "The Marquee and the Moon," a rare treat. I loved that "Twice Removed" was represented so well, with "Snowsuit Sound," "Worried Now" (my favorite Sloan song) and "People of the Sky." I thought the new material sounded terrific, and everyone was in fine voice. From the new to the not-so ("Gimme That?" - Oh hells yeah!), everything kicked ass. Not just a great Sloan show, a great frickin' show period! I couldn't think of a better way to spend my last night in the city. Thanks, guys!
