Great show! Very cool "deep cut" selections. Loved hearing "The Marquee and the Moon", "Snowsuit Sound" and "SInking Ships" over some of the more obvious (and more oft played) songs from the back catalogue. The boys were clearly having fun. Even Jay started to smile after a rought start when he began the show by angrily ripping out his ear-bud monitor and flinging it into the brick wall of the Pyramid. Jay, I hope that the frustration of your tech not working can be tempered by knowling that you looked cool doing that. It was so very, very rock and roll.
One of the dullards at my work who knows I'm highly into music asked me on Friday if I was going to see U2 this weekend. I replied, "no this is Sloan's weekend. U2 is ok, but they're no Sloan." Despite their riches and fame, I wonder if somewhere down deep in their weary hearts, U2 knows this too.
Here's to another XX.
The show was awesome! Loved the concert and the crowd!! I was so excited to see one of the greatest Canadian bands in concert!! I loved that they took the time to meet, talk and take pictures with their fans. Thanks to Patrick for posing for a picture with me, I've had a crush on him for years!!! Please come back soon!! Sloan rocks!!
Hmmm...i actually thought Sloan had a bit of an "off" night in Peg City this last time. Sound was a bit rough in the Pyramid. I still had lots of fun...as I do at all Sloan shows.
Sorry Sloan for the jackasses asking for old songs....like you take requests or something. I loved a lot of the new songs and will be checking out the new album soon. A good mix of old and new songs too. Speaking of jackasses, I was thoroughly entertained (and disturbed) by the man with the 80's rock hair flinging his mane into my friends face for the entire show. Good thing she had bought her Sloan shirt as a shield.
Best part of my night was being a really lazy fan and coming 15 minutes before the doors opened to get the few remained tickets and had a street sighting of Chris, and then Andrew...thanks for returning my smile! My decade long crush continues...looking forward to your return.
This was my first Sloan show, I know..I know..horrid of me, but it was SO much fun. I managed to be right up front in front of the fellas, and boy did I have a great time! Great set list, perfect mix of old and new and a lot of fun for a newbie like me! Thanks Chris for signing my ticket, and thank you to Andrew for taking my ticket onto the bus for Jay and Patrick to sign too! Sorry those drunk ladies were such douches to you outside the bus, I thought the show was awesome and will definitely be back! :D
