Port Colborne, Ontario hosted Sloan as part of their annual Canal Days festival, which this year also included David Wilcox, The Trews and others. One of the band's last shows of the summer before the EPIC-SOUNDING Twice Removed Tour kicks off! The boys were almost manic in their intensity, rocking our collective faces off with a setlist of punky, powerful cuts, esp. Andrew's smoking section of the show. I was fortunate enough to speak, if only for a moment, to Jay before the show. For those of you who may not know, Jay is also a CBC Radio 3 Host, and I have spent many a month chatting(or chattering?) to him on the online Blog there, so I asked him when he'll return to that gig. That's all up in the air until the end of Fall tour, apparently.
My show buddy Tim asked me that night, "Who is the biggest-name band to ever play Canal Days?"
He got a one-word answer - "SLOOOOOAAAANNNN!!!"
