Review of Show in Kitchener ON by Bridget
I just saw Sloan in Guelph (RIP Lyric), so I was inspired to visit the site....and yes, the dears opened this show.

I just wanted to say Thanks for the great show! Sloan is so tight as a live band now (Jay had to switch guitars mid-song and everyone kept it going no problem!). I had an amazing time -- even when someone next to me tossed their cookies and everyone cleared away, leaving a hole in the crowd into which one of the body surfers was almost dropped (haha darn). and Jay, the chest hair comment: it was a compliment!
Show #13 for me and I gotta say this was definitely in the Top 3 shows of all time. The boys had such energy and it looked like they were having a great time right from the get-go. I think Patrick was on fire that night because he was sounding great both on the guitar and vocally.
Song of the evening was Jay's "False Alarm." It sounded so awesome. Also, kudos for bringing back "C'mon c'mon" back to the setlist and a special treat with "Chester the Molester."
The Joel Plaskett Emergency were great as well. It was like a mini Halifax reunion.
Really looking forward to show #14.
I have to admit, I am a little disappointed. Patrick's strained voice can be excused, these things happen, but he pulled off all of the difficult notes (great job on reach out) and tried to get some momentum going.
For the most part, the guys just didn't appear as if they wanted to be there. I guess small crowds and venues can be something of a letdown, but are not to be used as an excuse for walking off stage before the encore is done. Kind of a shame considering I have seen them play 3 other shows and found them incredible. Here's to hoping I see another, better show from Sloan in the near future
Hey guys! Joey's sister Laura here! (Joey as in the guy who did Murderscene with u a few years back). Just wanted to let u know that u put on a kick ass show!!!! You always do! :) I was going to hang around to chat again, but I didn't have time. But ya.. I just love the new stuff! The old stuff too obviously!! :) Keep up the good work and hopefully I'll be seeing you again soon!
Well once again the boys didn't let us down. A great rock'n'roll show from the blistering opening of "Gimme That". While the tech side may have staggered a bit, the band was tight and professional. It was especially nice to hear old the old favourites but not so much having your FLAG STOLEN OFF STAGE BY SOME TWAT!
Oh and in case you happen upon this I want you to know that the signature on that sacred nylon is that of Ashley MacIsaac; making it all but valueless except to those with the sentimental attatchment I had to it.
I made (what turned out to be) the worst and slowest 4.5 hour bus ride from Oshawa to Guelph for the show. And it was well worth it. An awesome show, great music, impressive lighting, and excellent song selection. I had a great time and look forward to the next time you're in the area. I absolutely loved that you played Chester the Molester. You did a fellow bluenose pride. Thanks for the awesome show.
Sloan played an AWESOME show... totally rocked my socks off. Too bad there were a few morons in the crowd, pushing & shoving & crowd surfing. Despite that, the show was great.
I was excited to see Sloan again, but when I got in there I was really glad to see Joel Plaskett. He made the show that much better.
Great show again guys. Longer set than Edgefest, and some great tunes from the new album. My friends and I loved it when you played Chester The Molestor. Damnit that is a great song.
For anyone looking to see some great local (Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph) talent, check out THE FLYING PUBLIC at The Circus Room on October 10th. Doors open at 9:00.
Thanks Sloan, keep kicking.
Great concert, the band sounded cool!!
I've been a long time Sloan fan, but this was my first concert. I have to say, it was awsome! I'd heard that Sloan was really good live, but now I can say for sure that they put on a great show. This one will have to go down in the memory books, and here's to many more concerts! Thanks for making my weekend a blast!
Sloan played very well and the set list was well chosen. I'm just wishing they'd stop playing these beer festivals as their yearly trip to Halifax. It was absolute insanity. The crowd was pretty violent at times and everybody was either really drunk or really cranky. Maybe us Nova Scotian Sloan fans should really get onto nagging them into playing a normal, non beer festival, Sloan show where the audience will consist of Sloan fans rather than drunken, obnoxious college kids who are acting as if they've never been to a concert before. Anyway, enough complaining, Sloan was great. Though they kept getting pissed off at the audience, they had good reason to be. Thumbs aloft Sloan.
Kick ass show guys...like always!! Anyone who didn't make it, missed a good time!! Joel Plaskett was great too...
What a killer show. Lots of new stuff, and they played the old classics too. I still can't get over how diverse this band is. When the lineup changes like it always does, I'm always stunned. Thanks to Sloan for coming! You guys kicked ass!
The Joel Plaskett Emergency, familiar faces and all, rocked. As far as Sloan goes, kudos to the guys on another solid show. I really enjoyed it. Nice mix of newbies (great album by the by) and the popular oldies. I especially enjoyed the return of Chester, as well as the patented Murphster "rockstar kick"...it's been a while. Looking forward to next time!
Thanks to Mike for the schwag, and enjoy your "minibreaks" ;)

If it feels good....
Hey that was an awesome concert. for those who don'tknow, it was our homecoming concert and it ROCKED!!!!. it was a blast and i know everyone had great time.
This concert was great! Having been to a previous Sloan concert already, I was expecting much of the band's enthusiasm. I was very pleased that they palyed many of the best 'sing along' songs they've got since it totally added to the fun of the evening. The high light was getting to meet Chris as I "stole" in for a picture. A great event!
I felt really bad for you cause the sound was horrible! Way too loud from the floor. Had to go to balcony and it was ok i guess. But after 12 years you guys should make sure the venue you're playing in has a decent sound guy. 12 years! I saw you in better contexts! (i guess it makes me old too...)
Bonjour! Yes Sloan, you do have lots of french fans! Thanks for a really great rock show at Club Soda! I see
many gigs, but very rarely do I see such great musicians
with such drive! And poor Chris with your throat problems,
you still kicked ass! We do have such great canadien bands, but you are among the very best! I hope you come
back again. I will be there for sure! A bientot Sloan!
I eard Sloan music for the first time on that show. Guitars distortion are much better on show that on albums. The live performance is much better.
