This was my 8th time seeing Sloan live, and it was my favorite yet. I went to the Calgary show the preceeding week and the Dinwoodie show blew it out of the water. The sound at Whisky was just not right, but thats neither here, nor there.
I loved all the new album stuff, and all the old stuff, but this is the first time in a while I wasnt wishing for something older, the new energy in the new album is excellent, and its a great addition to the already amazing Sloan discography. As I have always felt since the first time I heard it live, my favorite song played was definitely If It Feels Good Do It, and the fact that they closed the show off with it was a GREAT decision, I always hoped youd start doing that. Another awesome addition to the setlist was starting out with Flyin High Again and WTYTLLT, I was hoping going in that that would be the case.
Again, it was the best Sloan show Ive ever witnessed, awesome performance, amazing energy, and inspiration to anyone with any musical ambition. Im also glad that these Edmonton and Calgary shows were the first shows my girlfriend has been to of yours, she absolutely LOVES you, Im almost jealous :)
P.S. We were the couple with the custom t-shirts. She wore "I much prefer the cake" and I wore "Andy Sabola"
P.P.S Will my favorite Sloan song, Marquee and the Moon, ever be played live? Id love to hear it, maybe next time?
Thanks Sloan, I cant wait until the next time we get to see you, keep on doin what youre doin.
