First time I've had a chance to see Sloan live. I've been a fan since the early nineties, when I lived in Buffalo and heard them on The Edge - Toronto radio station.

The set list favored their new, and wonderful, Never Hear the End of It. I wondered if the crowd was all that familiar with the album since it only came out last week in the U.S. Crowd reaction was sort of sedate.

Still, they're a great band and played a wonderful show, dipping into the past as far back as Twice Removed and One Chord to Another.

Can't wait to see them again.

great show! it went a little late for the mostly 25-35 yo crownd who need to work early the next day. i left at the end of the regular set though im presuming there was an encore. the setlist was the same as the past shows (below). it was a great show at usual and i believe patrick complained a bit about the subdued crowd but it was a tuesday and absolutely freezing. there should have howeve been much more "slooooooooooooooooaaaannn" chants happening. there was a really good full crowd in the middle east though so they drew very well given the circumstances and if it was a friday, the venue probably would have sold out easily. i really hope they pop back around in a few months as sloan are consistently one of the best live bands around and given their new 1 song/minute, you get a great song to cash ratio :)

I was lucky enough to hear about this show at the last minute...it seems that I've been a bit lax over the past couple weeks visiting the site, so I wasn't aware of this show. But, there I was...and there they were. All in all, a fantastic show--the new material comes across very well live, and it's great to see Andrew taking front-and-center for quite a few songs. I've always been a fan of his writing and I'm happy that "Never Hear the End of It" is thickly populated with Mr. Scott compositions. There was a great teaster moment, though, at one point Andrew was making his way out front, and the new touring keyboard fellow (forgive me for not knowing his name off the top of my head) started playing the Rhodes intro part to "The N.S."...but alas, it wasn't to be. A few great surprises in the set, though, including "C'mon C'mon" off of "Navy Blues"...that was a treat. I was a bit surprised at the overall calmness of the crowd, but I think that had MUCH more to do with it being a Tuesday night, as opposed to not digging Sloan. Afterall, it seemed that everyone stayed until the last waves of feedback rang out. I'll be looking forward to seeing them again in the Spring. Viva la Sloan!

The encore for the MiddleEast show was "Anyone Who's Anyone" and "If It Feels Good"...I gotta say, "If It Feels Good" is a GREAT encore...the ending of that song is so perfect for a live setting...good stuff

The above set list is close, but they played "Can't You Figure It Out" in lieu of "Before The End Of The Race." Here's the full setlist, with encores:

Great show.

I misplaced my Canon digital camera after the show. I am offering $100 reward/no questions for its return.

After being a fan for 10 years, it was my first chance to see a Sloan show, and it was everything I hoped it would be! What an incredible live band!
I got to stand right in front of Patrick and watch him play all those parts I've spent so much time trying to figure out. Gregory MacDonald was a great addition to the line-up, his keys and harmonies were right on.
The crowd seemed subdued to me too, but I think that was mostly because the new (fantastic) album was only a week old in the states, and the set was heavy on the new material. When I first saw the show date, I went ahead and bought the import so I could do my best to sing along, but clearly a lot of the songs were new to most of the audience.
Because One Chord and Navy Blues are two of my favorite albums ever, not just Sloan albums, I wanted to hear just a couple more from them, but I really enjoy the new album too, and I'm sure the band is more excited to play that material than the old stuff, even if some of those new songs have been kicking around awhile.
Thanks Sloan, for a great evening of sensational rockin', and please come back soon!
