I don't think I've heard Penpals live in at least 5 years. Sloan was just full of great surprises.
Really happy you played All Used Up. Patrick nailed the solo.

I went to see this show on a whim last night, thinking, "huh, Sloan, I haven't listened to 'em since I was 13 or 14, could be a good time", only to find that this band still rocks. Great show, kick ass sound, fantastic energy. I think the material has only gotten better. Like good whisky, boys.

After seeing them at Spectrum and Club Soda in prior gigs in Montreal, it is kind of sad now to go to a small venue like Sala Rossa to see Sloan live. What is next, Hémisphère Gauche?

Really fun show. My favourite part of a Sloan concert has always been hearing their new material. After hearing it I went out and purchased their new album which in my humble and sincere opinion is a masterpiece. I really mean it. The songs are inspired, confident, and show creative growth that makes me purr. Regarding their live show, I was blown away by Andrew's drumming which is underrated. He was in fresh fine form. Jay was charming as usual, Patrick was in fine voice and playful, Chris was low key, flitatious with young women yet seemed elsewhere. His song on the album are great though so he's forgiven. the addition of the percussion and keyboard is a nice touch. Patrick has several pedals but only seems to play one or two. Jay had an especially great sound on his guitar for one song. This band is underrated. There is no reason why their songs shouldn't be on the radio.

Just wanted to respond to Carl-Andre's comments about it being sad that Sloan played a small room like Salla Rossa. I was at the show on Thursday and I've also seen the band at Club Soda.

I don't see anything sad about playing a smaller club. As a fan, it only means one thing: smaller room=better view.

And anyone at the show on Thursday knows that the room was packed. I'm sure if Sloan comes back to play a bigger club, they will have no trouble filling it.

Great show. I have never been disappointed by you since I first saw you live in 1996 at the tender age of 16. Thanks for playing Montreal twice so close together - I managed to catch both performances. The new album is in a word, incredible. I am impressed and amazed at your continual growth as a creative force. Thank you for what you have given us all.

I'm from the states and I'm ashamed to admit that I had never heard of Sloan before this show. My boyfriend called me up and asked me if I wanted to see a band he really liked when he was 15. We went and had a fantastic time and I fell in love with Sloan.
